Sorry if there's already a thread on this, but it looks like Liberty's coach Danny Rocco may be taking the Richmond job.

Richmond is announcing their head coach today, press conference tomorrow.
It's been confirmed that Rocco has interviewed for the job.
You connect the dots.

Lehigh's Andy Coen was the hot name over the weekend but it does seem like Rocco is going to get the job. In all honesty i think Coen is a better coach. Perhaps he'll come back to Lehigh for one more season. Cecchini will take over as Lehigh's HC sooner rather than later.

Any Liberty fans surprised at this?
I thought Rocco was your guy for life to take you to being the next Notre Dame?

I'm not surprised he's leaving. I'm surprised he's going to Richmond.

I'm curious why Richmond chose to hire a coach who has never been to the playoffs as a a head coach before. I would have thought they would have been a little more selective.

I think it's the Big South that's held Coach Rocco (and Liberty) back. He's proven to be a good coach that just couldn't reach his potential in the Big South and I think Richmond officials recognized that. I think he'll do fine now that he has access to better recruits and a historically better program.

I will greatly miss Coach Rocco, but I greatly trust our AD and feel we are in a position to grab a great new coach. Liberty is on the way up and this will not stop that momentum.m

I agree completely. The timing could have been better with potential realignment implications. But frankly this could be a good move for all parties involved. Coach Rocco did a terrific job and I wish him nothing but the best except for when we meet on the field in a couple of years and in recruiting battles.
I am anxious to see who we land as our next head coach. Frankly it is more attractive than most of you would expect.
