NDSU says no to Primetime ESPN

Post by lakesbison »

NDSU was quoted as saying “we requested a saturday game”
ESPN PRIMETIME FRIDAY NATIONALLY happens about once every ten years for a.FCS team, maybe.

Hell, the title game is on ESPN 2 on a saturday.

NDSU had a chance to showcase the university, dome, fans to.recruits and sports fans nationally and blew it.

Graduation was already set for BSA if ndsu advanced, so.dont give me that excuse. Small time.

I heard they will accept nothing less than the NFL network on Monday night.

Yeah it was pretty smalltime of our AD to request a Saturday game so it didn't conflict with graduation. It isn't like we are a University or anything, something little like a graduation isn't important.

I can use that excuse all I want. I can also say that Gene Taylor is the man and if he wants a Saturday game...I think I'll agree with him over you any day of the week.

I agree with NDSU's decision. Graduation > Game. Always.

Lakes didn't even graduate from middle school, why would expect him to understand the importance of it?

Very good choice NDSU! No gosh and by golly for the BISON. We are already the focus of the nation, the stadium is sold out, its going to be available for viewing on several differnt media, there is no other game and if ESPN cant figurte that out they can have the little game.

Griz and SHSU future recruits applaud your decision

I seam to recall a play off game being played on a Friday evening every year for the past 5 years at least.

NDSU schedules their graduation on a weekday (I don't know if that's normal or not; Montana doesn't have a grad ceremony in the fall)?

On the other hand… I don't remember the reason, but I believe the Griz turned down the Friday game in 2004.

Seems weird to have a graduation ceremony in December to me, and I'm graduating this coming week myself.

Either way, I'll take it. I don't think NDSU is necessarily doing something stupid here, but I'm happy getting the extra exposure.

Generally the afternoon games on ESPN get better ratings than the Friday night game. I think it was a decent decision to take the afternoon game anyway. The atmosphere is way better on a Saturday afternoon for tailgating as well.

Seems like the Friday night games are usually on the Deuce because of NBA conflicts. This was a shot at being on the Mothership.

Works for me. Gives me some time to rest up and make the drive to Atlanta Friday night.

Does that really matter? How many people get ESPN but not ESPN2?

ESPN trumps espnu by 90%.

Friday primetime gives NDSU exposure, especially in recruiting. I am appalled that we pussed out

Your opinion would change had you been present in Missoula on Friday night. Best tailgating experience there yet.
