Big Sky Conference seeks its place in football landscape

“If we look around, we can win this game,” he said. “In three or four years, there will be three football playing conferences left in the West — the Pac-12, the Mountain West and us.”
Fullerton predicts the WAC will eventually become a basketball conference.
“Is there a school in the WAC that’s not trying to go somewhere else,” Fullerton asked. “That’s not a good sign.”

Television is included among changes coming to the Big Sky. Fullerton hinted at a new television contract with a national outlet that will give the Big Sky national exposure, something typically receives during the FCS playoffs.
“I can’t say anything,” he said, “but you can guess.”

This includes a re-brand of the Big Sky, which will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2013. It all begins in July.

I wonder what that means

Ask Fulerton to indicate how much money is involved in the TV deal he's huffing and puffing about. Chump change. Fullerton is a shyster with an agenda to demean the WAC to discourage the top BSC members from joining. Pure personal interest; no credibility. This is the man left holding the bag of a 13 member conf. spanning three time zones. Every conf. targets 13 as a number, right? BSC members are cool with increased travel costs at this level, I'm sure. With no increased revenue. He's a tool. There remain only two programs in the conference that can average over 10,000/game and he's describing it in the same breath as the PAC-12 and the MWC. Give me a break.

I'm guessing that means they'll change the logo…

Regardless, I'd much rather be a fan of EWU than Idaho at this point. :coffee:

North Dakota was the only bad decision in the Big Sky expansion. However Doug Fullerton should really PUSH CERTAIN Big Sky schools to invest in their programs or get the fxck outta here.

Northern Colorado
Idaho State
Southern Utah

Make the Big Sky THE BEST IT CAN BE. Maybe some requirements:

85% attendance EVERY GAME
15k minimum stadium capacity
Thats a start

Does Eastern even have 15k minimum stadium capacity?

I think WAC football is in trouble. That is pretty obvious. For that matter, the MWC is not exactly having a good go of it either. I think we are getting closer to the day where the haves and the have nots are split into separate governing entities. We will still be in the NCAA while the PAC-12, etc. will go form another entity.

So according to your rules the only teams in the BSC is Montana, and Montana State. Good luck with that theory. :dunce:

What needs to happen in his stupid idea is a 15,000 seat stadium which UND does not have. So Bozo you don't know shit.

Yeah, but didn't you win it once everyone else left for 1AA?

Gone all year at Army Basic and AIT training and one of the the first posts I see when coming back is SUU hate...god I missed this board :thumb:. To answer BlackFalkin's notorious hate of my Thunderbirds:

-3-0 against Big Sky Conference teams this season including then ranked Sac State right after their win over Oregon State and beating in state rival Weber State :notworthy: (also 4-2 overall if you count future members Cal Poly and UND) and a 44-16 ass kicking over FBS UNLV . Unlike Northern Colorado (I think we should have been invited before those guys were) we will be able to compete in the Big Sky right from the get go. :thumb:

Sorenson's back right? Does he have some good targets? How about the rest of the team? How many returning starters? You guys should be competitive right out of the gates.

Maybe I should be asking Grizza all this. Or 89hen.

It was 2001..UNC, NDSU and SDSU was still in the same conference as UND.

And the runner up was in 2003, with the SU's still in conference for their last year I believe.
