You are freaking insane if you're serious with this. At the very LEAST, the Montanas, Eastern, Weber, and CP will all have better records than UND. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Sac had a better record than the Sioux, either. PSU has a great shot at that, too. About the only teams I'd consider questionable in the OVER-UNDER UND race would be UNC and ISU....

I doubt ND finishes in the top half of the conference, and no way does Sac State finish behind ISU and UNC, IMO. And we will not finish 9th in the Big Sky. Did you just randomly pick teams and put them in spots after you put UND at #1?
Montana
Montana State
Cal Poly
EWU
Portland State
Southern Utah
UND
Weber State
Northern Arizona
Idaho State
UCD
UNC
I feel pretty strongly about the top 3, but think that from EWU to UNA they could shuffle up pretty good. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if Idaho State makes some noise to get into the middle of the pack this year, although I think they are a year or two away.
As for UND - I know most of you are saying that they will not finish anywhere near the top and will be at the bottom. While it could happen, I think that if UND gets some solid QB play and DB play, they will be very tough to beat. They have a tendency to play to the level of their competition in the past year, but unlike the previous year were able to win the close games and some games on the road. They will be an enigma right away, but hopefully they will show they belong. I think 2013 will be the year that they start moving towards the upper half of the conference.

Actually, I started off by putting Sac St. in last place, then randomly picked teams for each spot............................

Not to come down too harshly on my Hornet compatriot here, but I'm not sure he's right on either count. As bad as ISU and ESPECIALLY UNC are, I just can't fathom putting the Manure Pile in last, as much as I can't stand them. They'll be middle-down, to be sure, but I can't see putting them ALL the way in the cellar.
I'd dearly love to see Sac win the title, but I think it's going to be tough to get past the Montanas, Eastern, and Weber. Portland State may also prove to be tough, as will CP. And as much as I hate to say it, SUU may rear its ugly head.
In any event, it's going to be an interesting season in 2012, to say the least.

Geez this conference is gonna be great. Lots of power up top. Could the BSC potentially get 3-4 teams in the playoffs? Maybe a little worried about knocking each other around with the almighty 7 wins needed.

I think that's about right, with a few different teams having a shot to get in there as well. There's a bunch of teams that have the ability to break into that top 5, too. Just gotta see how it pans out. I like Cal Poly, they have a really nice schedule, so out of all the expansion teams I think they have the best shot of being a top 3 team. SUU has a great Qb, so they could also make some waves. Don't know enough about UND or Davis, but I do think that the expansion teams will come to realize that overall, an 8 game conference schedule in the Big Sky will be a little tougher than what they faced in the Great West. I don't see any of them being doormats, though. Should be really interesting.

I agree that playing in the Big Sky will be tough for the Great West teams, but most did not have an easy road in the Great West because scheduling was brutal. Two years ago Cal Poly had 5 straight road games (Texas State, McNeese State, Fresno State, Old Dominion and Southern Utah). In 2011 we opened on the road vs San Diego State, @ Montana, home vs South Dakota State and @ Northern Illinois. We are use to tough schedule. I am looking forward to only one FBS game, no DII games, and no more than 2 straight road games in the Big Sky in 2012.

Don’t worry; I’m sure I’ll do the same thing with UND rounding out the basement when I get around to making a conference prediction.

Me too. I wish that NAIA game was off our schedule but oh well. I think this may be a walk in the park for the GWFC teams...travel won't be as bad and there is now for UND there is more to play for than a conference title. Not including our transition years 2007-2011 UND hasn't missed the playoffs since 2002...we are going to try to keep that streak alive!!!

Before other teams fans jump on you for "walk in the park for GWFC teams", maybe you should clarify what you mean. Some may take it to mean that you think finishing at the top of the conference will be easier, so I just wanted to make sure you can clarify what you mean.
Brock Landers wrote:I'm sure he meant not having to deal with a GWFC schedule
Exactly...sorry not to be clear, but it was along the lines what SloStang was saying not scheduling 2 FBS teams and a bunch of non DI teams just to fill up your schedule. A walk in the park as in scheduling 3 OOC games instead of 7. Now winning the BSC...that will definately NOT be a walk in the park.
