Played in 10 games, starting the last nine in a row and becoming a force on defense... missed the opener with an injury, but ended up as the team’s third leading tackler with 55... had a team-high 13.5 tackles for loss - the most by a Viking in five seasons - and 3.5 sacks... also forced two fumbles... named second team All-Big Sky Conference... had at least one tackle for loss in nine of 10 games played... made a season-high 13 tackles in the win at Idaho State (10/1), adding 2.5 tackles for loss and a sack... had three tackles for loss and two sacks in the win at Eastern Washington (10/29)... a transfer from the University of Redlands, he redshirted the 2010 season.

Played two seasons at Redlands, earning All-Conference honors both years at middle linebacker.

Lettered twice in football and Rancho Buena Vista... earned All-League honors as a fullback both seasons and as a linebacker his senior year... All-CIF as a linebacker as well... a two-time team MVP... his team went to the CIF finals his senior year... earned North County academic honors... also lettered twice in track and field.

Pedguin the Penguin


Mascot of the Peds (from 'pedagogues', meaning 'teachers') of the New York State College for Teachers.

May 13, 1949 --Announcement that the “Pedguin,” a penguin like figure, designed by Paul Kirsch ‘51, was chosen as the school mascot by the student body as a less formal alternative to Minerva. Kirsch indicated that he originally called the design a “pedwin.” Kirsch won a GE radio in the contest to name the mascot. Second place in the contest was the State Seal, third place was the State Beaver.
May 14, 1965 - Replaced by the Great Dane as NYSCT evolved into a research university.

Had Pedguin not been replaced, this September's football game against Youngstown State might have been the NCAA's first ever Penguin vs. Penguin matchup.
