posted this on other sports, then thought hey this is now a 1-AA story.

LSU dismissed the Honey Badger today after a 3rd failed drug test supposedly.

I gotta think most teams won't touch him, but he'd fit right in at JMU with his MJ addiction.... :nod: :nod:

I was gonna graduate from LSU,
but then I got high.

I never thought I'd be wearing purple in FCS,
but then I got high.

Actually he may not be eligible to play 1-AA ball if he was listed as "ineligible" at LSU.

Mathieu has two years of eligibility left and could transfer, but he would have to sit out this season if he went to another school in major college football. If he moved down a level, to FCS, he could play right away.

"I can't imagine he would be here and not want to transfer and go play football," Miles said. "We will help him in every way we can."

Supplemental Draft. No way he goes to FCS.

He'll hook up with Towson......so he can play against LSU. :coffee:

He has the resume he needs for the draft. He won't risk injury playing FCS football.

if wants to play football this year his only option is the FCS.

Supplemental draft would be a great way to be forgotten about. See Pryor.

If he stays in area I could see him at McNeese. Don't count out SHSU, they have a knack for picking up players that have been kicked off teams.

Or ACU if he went to D2. They have a great track record of taking in project players and sending DBs to the NFL.

OK so non of the above since it appears he is just ineligible due to NCAA violations. Have fun in NAIA or JUCO.

Since ole Les Miles is from the Y-town area and wants to help poor Mattie.... maybe... Youngstown would be the place 8-)

If Honey Badger goes FCS, he'd most definitely go to Montana. I'm sure he'd love Missoula.

FWIW, this guy has NOT gone to FCS, at least not yet. With two years of eligibility left, he COULD go FBS for one year if anyone will give him a chance. He just might take one of those two options just to spite the LSU guy who said he was done in college.

I agree with slycat about the supplemental draft.

It is too late for the supplemental draft as the NFL preseason has begun. He can't go the supplemental route as far as I am aware.

SI has a piece up stating that he'll be heading to McNeese State. Good get for them if that's true. It makes sense based on their location and the reluctance of a lot of guys from that area to go far from home for college.

-As others have already pointed out its too late for the supplemental.
-Even if this was 3-4 several months ago at the end of his soph yr it wouldn't matter. Player has to be at least 3 yrs removed from HS to be eligible for the supplemental draft, and he would have been only 2 yrs removed.
-Sitting away from football for an entire yr would do far more harm to his draft status than playing I-AA for a season.

Oh, and "Honey Badger" is such a f**king gay name. :lol:

The early rumor is that he is looking at transferring to McNeese. But the primary basis of it appears to be a Tweet from former team mate and last year's LSU kicker Josh Jasper. You can Google "Tyran Mathieu McNeese" and see a bunch of hits on it. I Googled it because I heard it on local Baton Rouge radio while I was driving to go fishing this afternoon.

We'll see.

Ah the fog of media. We have this 10:58 pm CST article from the Lake Charles American Press in which McNeese State head coach Matt Viator is reported to have said Tyran Mathieu has not contacted the school:

http://www.americanpress.com/news/local ... or-Mathieu" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Then we have this 11:38 pm blurb from the Beaumont Enterprise showing a picture claimed to be of Tyran Mathieu at McNeese State and including the author of the above linked Lake Charles American Press story quoted as saying, "This is MSU's football building or a good clone:"

http://www.beaumontenterprise.com/sport ... 780285.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

But there's not a whole lot to look at. Just a door with a window in it and a little bit of wall.

A post by a credible individual on the McNeese State Delphi board said Viator's statement about no contact was made to the media around 7 pm. So we at least know that, unless Viator was out and out lying, Josh Jasper's tweet wasn't exactly accurate.

Opinion on the McNeese State Delphi board as to whether McNeese State should accept Mathieu if he wants to transfer there is sharply divided.

Not that it'll matter to many, but there's an FCS school in Baton Rouge, that may or may not be interested.
