2012 Bust Team

Every year there's at least one team that everyone is super high on at the beginning of the year, that not only fails to meet expectations, but fails in such spectacular fashion that everyone immediately thinks, "WTF were we thinking?"

Who do you think it will be this year, and why?

MSU. Because I'm obligated to pick them.

I was tempted to pick them as well, but I think their schedule is too easy to have a 2011 Villanova-esque bust.

I'm not obligted to pick MSU, but I will anyway.

My non-BSC pick would be NDSU. I have better arguments for MSU, though (history vs. Chadron).

I could see NDSU having a tough start with Colorado St, UNI and YSU early in the schedule. A lot of the Bison players were on the Red turf in 2010 and in Frisco last year, with only 7 Senoirs, none starting, this could be a let down year. Saw it in 87 and 89 after winning titles in 86, 88 and 90.

Sam Houston has 2 tough FBS games and a DII, so they have 8 games to win 7 after that.

Sweet. Thanks SH. Your prognostic ability is like a reverse hex. You've assured MSU of having a great season.

At the risk of sounding sarcastic, I would have to say probably the Griz. Unexpectedly losing your coach (the reigning conference coach of the year), your quarterback and both coordinators, and then having to play App State, Liberty and EWU before September is over could be alot for most teams to overcome. Stub a paw against NAU (yes, I'm aware of Souers record against the Griz) and we could be wondering what happened come October. The Griz have risen to the occasion before, but this could possibly be too much. It would be to most teams.

I used to respect you as a poster Jalmond, but now I don't think I do anymore. There's just absolutely no way the Griz will struggle. Brzcezkzzzz is the second coming of Dave Dickenson, and all of the Griz players on the two deeps would be starters anywhere else in the FCS. The players will take the all of the investigations and drama and turn it into motivation, beating down every opponent by double digits. I know all of this because Alpha told me so. JFC, what were you thinking, Jalmond!!!??? :ohno: :ohno: :ohno: :ohno: :ohno:

I knew someone would say us, and that's fine, but honestly, outside of Griz fans, who really expects us to be good this year?

I'm more talking about what happened to William & Mary or EWU last year: preseason #1 and #2 that everyone thought would continue rolling, and both completely faceplanted.

Like I said, I don't mind you picking the Griz, since it makes sense and we might suck, but picking us is kind of saying that everyone thinks we're going to be great again this year. :?

Fair enough, but you're still the Griz. All the years I've been following the conference, many times have I heard that this is the year the Griz fall and are rebuilding, yet at the end of the season, there are the Griz at the top. Everyone thinks you're great because you are (ranked just outside the top 10). This year could be different.

Wow  Mesmerized by the post above.

I think that UNI may have an off year in 2012. Not make the play-offs with their 2 murderous FBS games causing injuries to key players, and somehow they lose three MVFC games.

I say this every year, but this year I think it will finally happen. I think the griz will do no better than 5-6
