I'll take FCS coaches for $100, Alex.

This man shakes hands like a bitch after losing.

Who is Rob Ambrose?

Well done!

UD takes postgame handshakes very seriously...heard that Blount called up Lavan for tips.

Heard he's debating whether to use the pat-back, reach around.

Although I would prefer this move

UNH (1-0) @ Minnesota(1-0) (noon, Big Ten Network). Minnesota won @ UNLV 30-27 last week in 3 OT.

Maine (0-0) @ BC(0-1) (1 PM, ESPN3) Last week BC lost at home to Miami 41-32. This week they will beat Maine. I have no idea how close, because I have no idea what Maine has at QB.

URI (0-0)@ Monmouth(0-1) (1 PM)
Well, you got a URI team that:
-finished last season in the CAA 3-8/2-6.
-returned only 9 starters (referring my Phil Steele FCS Encyclopedia).
-is likely at 40 some schollies for the recently reversed decision to join the 36 scholly limit NEC next season.
@ a Monmouth team that:
-finished last yr in the NEC 5-6/4-4
-returned 18 starters.
-lost their 1st game @ pre season pick by both NEC coaches and Steele to win the Patriot Lehigh 27-17.
This game is a tossup. Going with Monmouth to pull the sleight upset (or maybe that won't even be an upset).

Del State (1-0) @ UD(1-0) (3:30 PM NBC Sports) UD blows out a bad MAC team worse than they beat West Chester. Del State beat VMI last week 17-10. But last yr they beat VMI 24-21 and finished 3-8/1-7 in the MAC, including a 45-0 loss @ UD. Is an absolute joke that this game is televised...

Ga State (0-1) @ Tenn(1-0) (4 PM ESPN 3). Going to be really ugly really quick. Last week Tenn beat NC State 35-21 in Atlanta.

Hampton (0-1) @ ODU(1-0) (6 PM) ODU wins handily versus a top half of the MEAC team. Last week Hampton lost @ Tenn Tech (last season's OVC AQ) 41-31. Last yr ODU at home 45-42 over an HU team that finished 6-5/5-3. This one won't be nearly as close.

Alcorn State (1-0)@ JMU(1-0) (6 PM). Alcorn did upset Grambling St last week. JMU in another blowout win. This time 48-7.

Gardner Webb (0-1) @ UR(0-1) (6 PM) GW was thumped at home by Wofford last week 34-6.

Fordham (1-0) @ Villanova(0-1) (6 PM) Fordham pounded Div II PIAA bottom feeder Lock Haven last week 55-0, but that doesn't mean much. Fordham went 1-10/0-6 in the Patriot last season, despite having signed their 2nd full scholly class when the rest of the Patriot hadn't signed any. Steele has them picked to finish last in the Patriot. Villanova might not be as improved as I thought they were, but they win this one at home comfortably.

Lafayette (0-0) @ W&M (0-1) (7 PM) W&M wins handily. Lafayette's "bye" week was last week. They finished 4-7/2-4 in the Patriot last yr, and Steele picked them to finished tied with Bucknell for 5th place in the 7 team Patriot.

Duly noted and corrected. I left out the "E" in MEAC and what is that, a 10 miles bus trip I had in the wrong direction for last yr?

FWIW I also incorrectly said Tenn beat NC State at home last week. It was actually in Atlanta.

From the DNR article "1,000 Miles, 16 Hours ... By Bus
MARK SELIG
......The budget-conscious Braves will travel about 16 hours by bus to play James Madison on Saturday at Bridgeforth Stadium, putting new meaning into the phrase "road trip."

Total one-way distance from Lorman, Miss.: 1,000 miles. Total travel time, counting the trip home: more than 30 hours.

"It's one of those deals where as a coach, you can't worry about it," Alcorn State first-year coach Jay Hopson said Wednesday. "Am I excited about busing 16 hours? It is what it is."

The Braves, according to director of operations Tramon Douglas, are scheduled to leave their campus at 5 a.m. Friday and hope to arrive in Harrisonburg - after two or three stops for meals and stretching - around 9 p.m.

Saturday's game between Alcorn State and JMU is scheduled for 6 p.m., which means the Braves will not have a walk-through at Bridgeforth or have much time to do much of anything else in the Friendly City. Soon after the game ends, the team will leave for Mississippi, arriving home sometime Sunday afternoon.

A flight from Jackson, Miss., to Washington, D.C., takes about 2 1/2 hours. Drives between the airports and the two campuses total about 31/2 hours - all which would have cut the one-way trip to roughly six hours of actual travel time, not including waits in the airports........."

Article said they won't fly to any games this season. Their furthest game after JMU is Prarie View, about 400 miles. When asked how long they would go by bus before they flew, the coach and the director of ops both said they didn't know, and the AD didn't return a call.

Said their athletic budget is low by even SWAC standards and they are getting 175k to play JMU.

This is specifically why I quit playing fantasy football and being an AGS/CS pollster two seasons ago. I can't keep up with the deadlines.
