NDSU vs Colorado State

Post by Bison Fan in NW MN »

Even with the off-field issues this week, IMO, the Bison win this game.

1. Bison defense looks like it started '12 right where it left off during last year's playoff run. Quick, fast, very good pursuit and depth. The CSU offense is a work in progress from watching highlights from the CU game. Their O-line looks vulnerable to pressure which our front 4 should be able to exploit. Good RB but the LBers and Dbs are very good at closing to the ball.

2. CSU does not look better than the Gophers last year. CSU does not have a talent advantage over the Bison. Probably alittle more depth at some positions.

3. CSU's defense is the strength of their team (from what I have seen on CU highlights). They will give the Bison offense some trouble if the Bison cannot sustain drives and move the chains. They look good up the middle at stopping the run, something the Bison like to do. Strength vs strength.

4. This should be a good game. Bison will be tested but if they can control the clock and not turn it over then they have a real chance of winning.

1. Agree on the defense...
2. CSU is pretty darn close to what the Gophers were last year. Of course, NDSU isn't the same team they were last year, either.

I've been consistent on this when I heard about this game, and I am sticking to my prediction of a loss. I keep having flashbacks to the Wyoming game of a few years ago. I will likely be a close game, but I will take the Rams in this game.

I just hope Mertens doesn't show up and start throwing picks! :kisswink:

That is one thing that the Bison have for them this year. A confident and proven leader at QB.

CSU's best RB is out for this game.

I think the Bison defense will be able to contain CSU's offense....not totally stop them but they will have a good game.

This will be a defensive battle, CSU's front four chased, hit and sacked the CU QB it seemed like every play which probably means that they will be doing much of the same vs you guys. I can see this game easily being a 20-17 but dont underestimate the rams, this new coach already is got them going in the right direction. :twocents:

It will be a game much like the Sam Houston game, close, and anyone can win.
CSU win over in-state rival was not surprising, as Colorado has to be bad having a Kansas transfer as QB.

The off the field issues don't matter this week, there were no suspensions.

If it were 8 reserves that will never see the field they'd all be suspended/gone. However, since 4 starters were involved no action was taken on any of them. The reserve guys right now should be thanking Sam and Marcus for saving their spot ont he team.

They did fine without him against CU. The CSU front 7 dominated CU, if they play like that against NDSU I think they should take care of business.

Watched the CSU/CU game last weekend. I think I will be surprised if NDSU goes in there and comes out with a win. Should be within a touchdown or so though.

Jeez....bitter much? I really don't see why so many people like you have their panties in a bunch over this. These players will be punished there is no doubt about that, Bohl won't let this slide. I am thinking one or two games suspension. He should have just did it for these next two games, cuz in the grand scheme of things they don't really matter. Rest assured though that there will be a punishment and like I said one to two games for most if not all of them and who knows some may get worse if one or more of them were more involved with it than the others. Thats why I think it makes sense to wait and see how this shakes out in court, because some of these eight may have been more involved than the rest, rather than just punish all the same without knowing all the details.
As far as the game goes if we play a turnover free ballgame I like our chances, if not CSU wins. Thier front seven on D are pretty damn stout and our two young O-lineman will be tested. How those two perform is also gonna be a huge factor in whether we win or not.

I'm not bitter....but if you think that those 4 reserves are still on the team if it read just them that got busted your glasses are very green and gold tinted, especially how bohl usually handles these things

I don't really agree with that. You have to admit this is a somewhat strange thing for some football players to get into trouble for, pretty much unchartered waters for anyone really. Thats why I don't believe he would have kicked even 4 reserves off the team for this. These guys will be punished either way, so really whats the big deal? Jemison wasn't kicked off, because it was a class A misdemeanor, he was kicked off for a violation of team rules, so all the people including you harping on the fact that they are the same class offense need to realize that. Bohl never once said a class A misdemeanor was a automatic release from the football team, all he said was it was a violation of team rules that Jemison was kicked off for. So now all these pansies out there are screaming double standard when it is not, but as I said these eight will be punished, highly doubtful kicked off, but punished for sure. Congrats on the panthers performance against the badgers by the way. Looks like you have a good young qb!

I'm just saying I've never seem any one get CHARGED with a class a misdemeanor (1 step shy of a felony btw) and not even be suspended. If the pvam game was this week and csu next week it would have happened...if it was reserves only it would have happened, but when it's half your starting defensive backfield and 2 of your teams top 4 players with a "big" game I'm not shocked it happened this way

for the record, I agree with you. Still, complaining about it does no one any good. :coffee:

What they are charged with essentially amounts to cheating or slacking off at work. If you can honestly say you've never done either of these, then well you are a better man than I.

Just a thought...

If NDSU plays like this all season and wins another flag, I'd be really surprised if Bohl isn't hired away to a big school.

Bison looking damn impressive! :notworthy:

As a long time Bison fan I wouldn't be surprised either. However, his wife and kids are native Fargoites and are deeply rooted to the area. Coach Bohl has said he likes NDSU alot and that it would take just the right situation to leave. Friends of his have said it would need to be a school with a rich football history and from a power conference, allowing him a chance at a National Championship FBS style. I would be surprised to see him leave for a Tulane, Wyoming, New Mexico, or something similar. But I wouldn't be surprised to see him leave for a Wisconsin, Arkansas, Texas, etc. Hopefully his roots are running deep as well....and ends up staying for another ten years or so.
"We don't play for moral victories, we play to win!"
