Big Sky Predictions 9-15

Post by JALMOND »

Short and not too sweet, maybe. Currently I sit at 21-3, mainly because I can't see anyone beating the FBS. Maybe I've learned my lesson now. OK, Portland State over Washington (that sounds good, ). Really, though...Here are this weeks predictions and my attempt at perfection. Ten games this week. Have at them.

CP at Wyoming---Interesting game as the Mustangs had a week off and Wyoming may be without their quarterback. Sac State won at altitude (and the Pac-12 nonetheless). Still...Wyoming 31, CP 27.

Liberty at UM---The Grizzlies had a pretty good showing at Appalachian State last week, a place just as difficult for the visitors to win as Wash-Griz. Just ask Liberty...UM 35, Liberty 21.

Stephen F Austin at MSU---The Bobcats are coming under fire for two rather lackluster performances. Last week they got a win at Drake. This week they get a powerful Stephen F Austin team. As if it makes a difference...MSU 31, Stephen F Austin 14.

UND at Sac Diego State---The Sioux obviously have some offense, averaging 55 points a game so far, and the defense also has looked sharp. But then again, they have not played up to the FBS yet until now...San Diego State 42, UND 17.

Fort Lewis at Northern Arizona---So if the Lumberjacks rallied in the second half to beat FBS UNLV and no one saw it, did it really happen? You better believe it...NAU 31, Fort Lewis 7

UNC at Sac State---Everyone knows about the Hornets winning at Colorado, now they get the only DI Colorado team to win last week. Yes, the Bears got their first win in two years last week against DII Colorado Mesa. Are the Hornets really that good?...Sac State 27, UNC 20.

PSU at Washington---First meeting ever between these two schools. The Vikings are still trying to work out the kinks in their system, falling last week to North Dakota. The Huskies got throttled by LSU and will be looking for some payback...Washington 38, PSU 7

New Mexico Highlands at SUU---The Thunderbirds' hyped offense was non-existent against Utah State and then looked great for two separate quarters against California last week. This game should give the offense an opportunity to shine...SUU 45, New Mexico Highlands 7

UCD at South Dakota State---So how good are the Aggies? Are they the team that beat Azusa Pacific, or are they the team that played San Jose State. First game for the Aggies outside California...South Dakota State 35, UCD 17.

McNeese State at WSU---The home opener for the Wildcats and after two hard losses to begin the year, nothing feels better than coming home. Unless you are playing a team like McNeese State...McNeese State 28, WSU 21.

Portland St. 17-45 UDubFirst-ever meeting between these two teams, apparently

Cal Poly 21-35 WyomingI don't see an upset here, but you never know

UC Davis 17-27 SoDak St.Not sure if the Jackrabbits are good yet, but they should win at home

NoCo 21-34 Sac StateBears get another hail mary at the end… when trailing by 20

NM Highlands 20-42 SuutahThe Cowboys look like they might be a good DII team, but…

McNeese 34-27 Weber — Weber's playoff hopes—if they have them— could rest on this game

Ft. Lewis 3-56 NAUThe Skyhawks are not a good DII team

Liberty 24-42 MontanaThe Griz running game should have another big day

SFA 21-28 Montana St.The 'Jacks like to fold when hit in the face, so we'll see if MSU finds their toughness

NoDak 14-38 San Diego St.The ex-Sioux venture outside for the first time

CP at Wyoming - CP could pull this one out

Liberty at UM - I hope to see us come out strong and consistent in this one

Stephen F Austin at MSU - The kitties need to play better but should win

UND at San Diego State - This will be a tough place to win, sorry UND

Fort Lewis at Northern Arizona - NAU should get some practice in before we meet them next week

UNC at Sac State - It is hard to pick UNC until they start getting some W's

PSU at Washington - I hope I'm wrong, but I dont' think this will be the FBS win this week

New Mexico Highlands at SUU - I hope SUU can get back on track and find a rythm this week

UCD at South Dakota State - I am gonna have to go with the home team here

McNeese State at WSU - I am gonna go with Weber at home
-Go Griz!
-Class of '97
-Thank you to all our Veterans.

All home teams, excluding Weber. MSU and Wyoming are the most probable victims of an "upset," IMO.

This. The stars are aligning for a loss in Bozeman this week, especially without Minter or Daly, but I still picked the Cats in the challenge. Maybe this team needs a "wakeup loss" ala NAU in 2010. They need to play better than the last two weeks to come away with a win this week.

31-17 Wyo over CP – I’ll be pulling for an “upset” but not sure if CP will be able to pull it off.

35-10 UM over Liberty – UM rolls at home in this one. SH’s head implodes as he tries to decide which team to cheer for.

24-13 MSU over SFA – Home field advantage helps MSU overcome their early season shaky play.

34-14 SDiegoSU over UND – I think UND hangs with them for a half then SDSU adjusts and pulls away. SDSU is a shell of its former self offensively (both Lindley and Hillman graduated) so an upset isn’t out of the question. I might go to this game if the Hornets can run away from UNC.

38-20 Sac State over UNC – The Hornets have never lost to UNC. If the Hornets take care of business it should be a win, a no-show and the Hornets are in trouble.

27-6 NAU over Ft Lewis – NAU should roll if they keep the momentum they found last week.

31-10 Washington over PSU – Washington takes some pent up aggression out on the Vikings. Interesting to see how the Vikes D performs following the firing of their DC.

38-3 SUU over NMH – SUU found an offense last week and should roll in this one.

24-14 WSU over McNeese State – I think the elevation and travel puts a hamper on McNeese. This should be a good game to watch.

28-13 SDakotaSU over cal davis – Long travel following a drubbing by SJSU is too much to overcome for “them”.

I don't think UM will roll. I think the travel will affect Liberty, but they'll make it a game. They took a decent Wake Forest team down to the wire.

Well, I don't hope SH's head implodes. I've actually felt kind of empty inside during his absence. :|

I don't think there's any way this game will be that close. Ft. Lewis lost to NM Highlands 50-0 last week.

They also gave up over 250 rushing yards to Norfolk…

The Flames may be able to score some points, but I doubt they'll do much to stop Montana's offense.

Portland St. @ UDub — The DC change works....

Cal Poly @ Wyoming — CP is bucking for a playoff berth....

UC Davis @ SoDak St. — I'm not sure the Manure Pile is good enough to win on the road yet....

NoCo @ Sac State — Hornets look the demons of '11 in the face and bash them...with help from Buffy....

NM Highlands @ Suutah — Even a crappy Sky team can take down NMHU without missing a beat....

McNeese @ Weber — The Texans get BBQ'd....

Ft. Lewis @ NAU — NAU doesn't lose D-II games....

Liberty @ Montana — Griz win a close one....

SFA @ Montana St. — The Kitties continue their push to replace the Griz as the class of the Sky....

NoDak @ San Diego St. — SDSU is vulnerable, but UND won't QUITE get it done....

I randomly pull out numbers from my ass when I post these scores. If Bauman is still banged up, it wouldn't surprise me if they pull him when they get a comfortable lead. Same with Grossart (sp?). But then again maybe it doesn't matter if Ft Lewis is that bad.

Apologies to McNeese fans (including kalm). There are so many TX teams in the SLC that I naturally assumed they were there, too.

You know what they say about assuming....
