#7 Eastern Eagles 2-1 (1-0 BSC) vs. #21 Montana Grizzlies 2-2 (0-1 BSC)

Meeting for the 11th time in 17 years with both teams nationally-ranked, the No. 7 Eagles host the 21st-ranked Montana Grizzlies Saturday (Sept. 29) in a game televised live regionally on Root Sports. Kickoff at Roos Field in Cheney, Wash., is 4:15 p.m. Pacific time in EWU’s latest home start since 1981.

The Eagles, ranked seventh in this week’s Sports Network NCAA Football Championship Subdivision Top 25 poll, are 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the Big Sky Conference after last week’s 32-26 escape at Weber State. Eastern scored seven times on offense, but needed a fumble recovery after a sack with 34 seconds to play to preserve the victory.

“More than anything, we are going to keep working on our details and the things we need to improve as a team,” said Eastern head coach Beau Baldwin after the narrow win over the winless Wildcats. “We are going to learn from this game very quickly, then we have to move on. The Montana game is a pretty big one for us.”

The Grizzlies, meanwhile, suffered a rare home loss and fell to Northern Arizona 41-31. The Lumberjacks scored 34 unanswered points to drop the Grizzlies to 2-2 overall and 0-1 in the Big Sky Conference. As a result, the Grizzlies fell from 14th to 21st in the Sports Network poll, while NAU jumped into the rankings at 22nd.

Always gotta have the *OFFICIAL* thread, right SE?

This is slightly less attention whoring than painting your field red. :coffee:

Kalm's is a discussion thread. This is a game thread. He jumped the shark, as I was going to make this thread regardless like I did last week. Plus mine has cool graphics. :coffee: :finger:

SE does have some nice info in his "official" thread, but he could have just posted it in Kalm's, or even asked Kalm to edit his first post to include this new information.

Mod's, merge the threads then. I just figured the graphics and game info should be in the first post, not near the bottom of the first page that's filled with griz excuse making. :coffee:

Eastern’s QB starter remains big question
At least the Grizzlies know what’s coming, but they’ll be compelled to prepare for two quarterbacks with vastly different playing styles. Against Weber State, Adams completed 7 of 12 pass attempts for 75 yards and rushed for 62 more, mostly on successful third-down scrambles.

“I don’t know that I’ve had a quarterback who’s so straight-out athletic,” Baldwin said. “And that gets twisted sometimes, because he also throws the ball really well.”

...

So who will it be on Saturday?

“You’ll just have to come out Saturday and see what happens,” Baldwin said.

I thought Padron was the second coming. Is he hurt or something? What happened? :?

He has a Tim Tebow like completion (% 48%) and a 1-1 TD:INT ratio with 4 of each....

Whoever starts better be prepared to run for his life; just ask Grossart.

Not hurt, Adams has been equally impressive. It's a good problem to have, unlike Montana's Kolb/Skelton like situation. :thumb:

FWIW, here are both BLM and Padron's #'s through their first 3 games at EWU. Remember that BLM had all of spring ball with the team, and played against 1 FBS, 1 D-II, and 1 FCS, whereas Padon didn't have spring ball with the team, and played against 2 FBS, 1 FCS.

BLM: 52/99 (52.5%), 675 yards/13ypc, 5 TDs/3 INTs
Padron: 50/104 (48.1%), 788 yards/15.8ypc, 4 TDs/4 INTs

Pretty similar numbers, if you ask me. :coffee:

BLM also had Taiwan Jones to win games for him. :coffee:

Impressive? Really? Despite perhaps the best receiving corps in the country, EWU is 12th. in the league in passing efficiency.
