You people are nuts, comparing kids that have never played a college game to Reggie Bush

I've learned that most Bison fans are insane in some form. :)

This is a clone of the YSU running back topic. It's just insane to claim anyone is Reggie Bush before they have even played a game

There's a RB at Clinton, SC high that has run for over 3000 yds each of the last 2 seasons but the problem is he's so dumb that he can't pass a GED much less graduate. Maybe they can get him into Georgia Southern though.

Trust me, he will graduate somehow and someone will get him into college

Sounds like he will be playing in Huntington, WVa next year. They have a knack for getting everyone in!

As to the subject of the original post, comparing some guy who has never set foot on a college field to Reggie Bush is a little much. Guys come out of HS with glowing accolades every year, only to never be seen or heard from again. There are plenty of lesser-known guys who make a much larger impact. Besides, if this guy was the next Reggie Bush, he would be going to NDSU (no offense to the Bison), he would be at Michigan or USC or Notre Dame.

Ahhh, crap! I meant to say he wouldn't be going to NDSU and now I can't edit. So, I fix it myself!

Here's the difference: at least Kevin Smith played in Junior College, some sort of competition that is "superior to high school ball." And secondly YSU already has a pretty darn good Texas RB with very little college experience.

Name: Jabari Scott
2007 Starting RB for YSU. That Smith Kid is 2-3-4 on the Depth Chart.

Look at his stats!
in 14 games, he rushed for 2,493 yards on 306 carries and scored 33 touchdowns...averaged 8.1 yards per carry and 178.1 yards per game...ranked third in class 5A in yards, touchdowns and attempts.

Comparing Junior College to this level of competition is like comparing little league baseball to College ball

It'll be interesting to see if this kid can beat out Patrick Paschall.

Maybe but there have been some very good JUCO transfers to upper level IA schools as well.

Sounds like he should just keep working out, wait two years, and walk right on to a Pro team. Heck they do it in all the other sports. But they do have an age thing for the NFL.

There are no RBs in both the FCS and the FBS like Reggie Bush, besides if he was that good he wouldn't go to NDSU. He would go to I don't know.........USC?

WELL, JUST TO LET YOU GUY'S KNOW; THIS GUY TURNED DOWN 5, LET ME SAY IT ONCE MORE, 5 D-1 OFFERS TO GO TO NDSU. JUST ASK AROUND THE HOUSTON, TX. AREA. (THIS IS THE ONE THAT GOT AWAY) IF YOU SO CALL FOOTBALL FANS, KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT BIG TIME D-1 RECRUITTING; IT'S DONE AFTER A KIDS JR. YEAR. MOST BIG TIME D-1 SCHOOLS HAVE 15 TO 20 COMMITMENT BEFORE THE KIDS SR. YEAR. NOW IN DJ'S CASE; WHEN THOSE BIG TIME D-1 SCHOOLS CAME AROUND,AFTER HIS SR. YEAR IN JAN. RECRUITTING (ONE OF THE TOP ATHLETES IN THE NATION, BY THE NAME OF JACKY HENTON ,FROM CHANNELVIEW, TX; BY THE WAY, HE HAS ALREADY COMMITED TO OK-STATE.THEY ALL WANTED TO KNOW WHO IS THIS KID RUNNING THE BALL, AND WHERE IS HE GOING TO COLLEGE . THEY ALL THOUGHT THEY HAD A CHANCE TO GET HIM BECAUSE HE WAS GOING TO A SMALL FCS SCHOOL.THAT'S WHEN ALL THE OFFERS START COMING IN.YOU

YOU SEE SOME KIDS AND THEIR PARENTS GET CAUGHT UP IN THE BIG TIME D-1 HYPE, AND THAT'S WHY WHEN THEY GO TO COLLEGE, YOU NEVER HEAR FROM THEM AGAIN. IT'S CALLED THE NUMBERS GAME. SO MANY GREAT ALL-AMERICANS FROM HIGHSCHOOL GO TO BIG TIME D-1 SCHOOLS, AND SIT ON THE BENCH FOR THREE OR FOUR YEARS JUST TO SAY , I GOT A D-1 SCHOLARSHIP. A DEGREE AND PLAYING TIME IS WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT, PLAYING TIME IS WHAT MOST OF ALL THOSE HIGHSCHOOL GREAT BACKS DON'T GET.

AS FOR ALL THE FUTURE FCS STUD RUNNING BACKS;YOU WILL GET YOUR CHANCE TO BE A STAR BEFORE ALL THOSE OTHERS WHO WENT TO A D-1 SCHOOL;SOME OF THEM WILL NEVER TOUCH THE FIELD.
REGGIE BUSH WAS NOT ALWAYS THE STAR HE IS TODAY. JUST KEEP FOLLOWING YOUR DREAMS

AS FOR DJ, HE'LL GET HIS SHOT;IF NOT THIS YEAR, NEXT YEAR WHEN NDSU MAKE THEIR NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP RUN IN 2008
BELIEVE THIS HYPE: NDSU FCS NATIONAL CHAMPIONS IN 2008

You know, you don't have to shout at us. Plus NDSU is now a D-1 school so it's offer is a D-1 offer too. :twocents:

....We're not insane.......just very rabid fans.

As to DJ, I think it will take some time to see what he can do. But, obviously this kid has a TON of potential and could do a lot for the BISON! I am damn glad we got him.

No, it doesn't make him good, but it does mean that he is smart!
