Just curious as to what everybody thinks now that we control our own fate.

Your schedule sets up very nicely. Both difficult games you have at home at altitude (not that that would necessarily affect SUU).

I still think you lose one, and possibly both. Better hope last weekend was an anomaly.

9-2 Southern Utah wins in the Skydome.

The Grand Canyon Cup rivalry (that's what it's called...right?) has been competitive in its early stages and SUU has shown a habit of taking out teams ranked higher than they are. THey're up for playing the spoiler in this one.

Hope I'm wrong but last weekend didn't help instill more confidence in the Lumberjacks.

when teams are able to key in on bauman our offense really sputters. i thought we were gonna lose the game against und because bauman went out for that quarter

NAU should be ISU easily.

Last two games will be toss ups - both SUU and Cal Poly are very good teams.

They are already for real. If they win out, they are a title contender.

They are rightfully #1 in the Big Sky and are under ratted n the polls but I'm also thinking they may lose to Cal Poly on Nov 17th.

I think you're pretty safe at 8-3, and 7-4 with an FBS win should give you a good shot.

Having a bit of an inside perspective with this team they are definitely for real. They believe they can win any game, at any time, no matter what the score. This team has talent, athleticism, attitude and luck. What is most impressive to me is how they handle themselves in adversity. They are cool, calm and confident.

Like any team this time of year they have to stay healthy. Like most teams they are pretty banged up but their starters should get a rest 2nd half of the ISU game.

NAU's secondary is one of the best in FCS. Their defense is stingy and tough. Their linebackers are deep. They saved the last two games for a sputtering offense.

I don't know if anyone has noticed but NAU makes lots of substitutions on defense. Their 2 deeps are pretty even. That is a major factor in why they wear teams down in the 2nd half.

As far as their offense they will get back on track. They have lots of weapons and Baumans backup is a pretty good RB himself. He got caught behind 2 NFL RB's at Cal but the kid has talent.

Grossert is consistent and has a strong arm when needed.Great hands and lots of them at TE and WR.

A real difference maker for NAU is special teams with one of the top kickers in FCS and the top returner.

They are a solid team and if they are clicking on offense ...get ready for a smack down.

I think NAU wins out. The wild card is that finally the $23 Million renovated Dome finally feels like home field advantage. :thumb:

Seeds get homefield, as long as they have made minimum bid.

Non-seeds - games are based on highest bid.

NAU last hosted a playoff game in 2003 - a quarterfinal loss to Florida Atlantic.

Without a guarantee of a sellout (and the money earned), would NAU choose to bid for the seed or not?

I was at the dome for this game in 2003. What a crappy day. Howard Schnellenberger (old U of Miami coach) came in to the dome and smacked NAU after the Jacks beat # 1 McNeese State on the road the previous weekend. Florida Atlantic's speed was impressive.

The fact that they've succeeded in the face of adversity on more than one occasion (coming from behind in games and winning "ugly") shows this team has a positive mindset. Lots of physically talented teams have failed because the mindset wasn't in the right place. Long way to go but I like what I've seen up to this point.

Seeds are awarded to the top teams in the playoffs, they are not awarded based on a bid, however as dbackjon said they must meet the min. bid requirement. Seeded teams host. Games that do not involve seeded teams the home game is awarded to the team that bid the most.

NAU played us tougher than Cal Poly and NAU held the Aggies to the fewest points of any team this year.

I appreciate your enthusiasm and readily admit that NAU fans who give a squat and/or a piss are rare finds...but you're sounding like certain Griz fans you dislike so much.

I hope NAU beats Cal Poly and I'm giving the Jacks the edge @ the Skydome to close the season. Home field's gotta count for something. But to think the final will be 42-3 or something like that is, well, bordering on delusional. Cal Poly hasn't had a blowout loss all season. Their one and only loss was by six points on the road to a suddenly hot Sac State team. Only one of their opponents has scored more than 30 points against them all season. They have a run-heavy, ball control offense with one of the top rb's in FCS. I just don't see NAU rolling Cal Poly.

That being said...go Jacks!
