Illinois State @ Appalachian State

The week is here, ISU back in the playoffs. ASU fans already looking past us for a game at EWU but be aware, don't sleep on this Redbird team! Yes we had 2 BAD home losses, but we were undefeated on the road. All the pressure will be on ASU since its your crowd, you have history with the Titles, and you have a bad taste from recent playoff losses!
I'll be in Boone on Saturday, hopefully to celebrate a Redbird victory!!

Looking forward to it Matt, but very little I've read on any of the boards shows App looking past this week.
PM me and we'll have a few beers pregame. Unfortunately I have to bail right afterward.

I think the winner of this one has a chance to make a serious run this year.
Go Redbirds!

I can assure you after the last two playoff disasters we aren't looking past this one.
My thoughts on the game.

I'm willing to give him a pass, but he is off to a horrible start.
Even us Hillbillys in Watauga County have fiber to the house. In all those world-wide internets with which I have access, I've yet to see where **ASU fans already looking past [ISU} for a game at EWU**
Perhaps he will give us a few links.
Otherwise, any semi-sober Hillbilly knows Appalachian will go as far as our defense will take us. They need to pressure Matt Brown, get some stops and create some turnovers.
Or, the score might look like a basketball game

Lol you should meet one but us ISU football fans are few and far between. Lol.
And wow, I thought I was well liked around here and when I was in AGS, but now I'm deemed annoying and a schmuck. Damn!! You don't know me at all!!

See. Defensive schmucks!
Actually, I'm still bitter about losing the B'Hawks-Flyers Stanley Cup bet a few years back.

IIRC there was a genius ISU fan that was pretty popular once.

Lol I know ur messing around, I am as well
But I should have said a few ASU guys, not all, I'm sorry for that, and there was a thread on here for App vs EWU but now that I think about it, I don't think the ASU guys started it. Again in sorry. Now I'll go back to being annoying
I just watched my DVD of the Hawks/Flyers series Over Thanksgiving. Great memories, great games, great series! Lots of goals!! I miss hockey!

Sounds as if both teams have been really up and really down this year at times. Guess it depends on what the walking wounded and those able to play have learned from this season.

I was looking at some of the stats and was really surpised at Apps rush D stats......is the rush D and D in general really as bad as the stats spell out? With the piss poor rush D how the hell did ya beat GS?

GSU was the third option team we had played, and it finally clicked for the D. Most of the rushing stats probably came from our other two games against option teams--WoCo and Citadel (which I think just scored another touchdown). Our run D against non-option teams hasn't been nearly as bad--but, still not great. I imagine this should be a close game down to the end.

Good questions both.
Yes, App played 3 Triple Option teams this year, first The Citadel, then Wofford, then GaSo. The Citadel ran all over us -- my younger son said it seemed like they ran for 600 yds. on 4 plays. It sure seemed like it to me. The D overran every single play, except those they under-ran. For Wofford, the D played a bit better, but we still lost. And, by GaSo, the D had it figured out. And, in hindsight, there's no question that GaSo was a better team than El Cit.
We ALWAYS play GaSo tough. As do they.
I think it is safe to say that stats at this point in the season are pretty much meaningless here. The D we put on the field for El Cit. & Woffie is COMPLETELY different & much improved at this point.
It's a new season. Starting Saturday.

Any of the App folks know what the deal is with parking? Are all the lots still permit only for playoff games or is it open season on spots? I've been to several playoffs in the past, but we always just paid for a spot near Raley.

Not sure on the parking pass situation, but hopefully someone can weigh in on what's available.
