Gotta love the LSU sack at the 0:35 mark.

Towson State will make some noise in the CAA this year, but ultimately, there are too many Delawares and B&Ms for them to pull anything off. They'll be lucky if they get an at-large, even in the expando-playoffs and the gargantuan number of teams the CAA gets in.

Smart money is on Nova. A nice dark horse is Stony B.

Towson should be good.

Yeah. They were finally accredited a few years ago.

But seriously, most (if not all) of the Maryland state uni's dropped the State.

Ex. Salisbury State is now Salisbury U.

Towson dropped the State in '97. But ESPN and news outlet continue to use the State for some reason. It annoys the fuck out of everyone at Towson. I don't care because its what is on my diploma and all my football stuff says TSU.

Kent State tried to lose the "State" and failed miserably.

I'm pretty sure Salisbury and Frostburg both tried the year after Towson dropped State but were denied. Then a couple years later Salisbury tried again and it was allowed. Frostburg never retried, they are still Frostburg State.

Towson should be good.
AS far as SBU they have 3 HUGE losses on offense:
-RB Miguel Maysonet: consensus All American, 2nd in Payton voting, NFL free agent.
-WR Kevin Norrell, 1st team All American, All Big South, NFL free agent.
-QB Kyle Essington: 2nd Team All Big South for 2nd straight yr, 3 yr starter.

Speaking of Towson and SBU, they sound EERILY similar (I'm sure Andy could tell you more):

Offense
-Both teams lost a 2nd team All conference QB.
-Both teams will have a new starting likely senior QB.
-Both teams return all 5 OL starters.
-Both teams return 3 OL than received All conference honors, two 1st team one 2nd team.
-Both teams return a 6’0”/230ish likely future NFL TB. TU has Terrance West, 2011 All American & National FR of Yr. SBU has Coker, the Iowa transfer who 2011 was 2nd team All Big 10.
-Both teams lost a WR that was signed NFL free agent contract.

Defense
-Both teams lost 4 starters on defense (according to game notes).
-Both teams lost 2 1st team All conference players on defense (TU’s were All Americans in their safety Dangerfield and DE Beltre). (TU also loses a 2nd and 3rd teamer).
-Both teams return 3 players on defense that received all conference honors. Both return two 2nd team all conference (SBU’s 3rd player was 1st team all conference, TU’s was 3rd team).
-Both teams beat VU last season by a smiliar amount- TU by 14 @ Nova, and SBU by 10 at home.

One thing that might make TU better than SBU this season is that TU’s likely starting senior QB started a ½ doz games for them back in 10’, before sitting out 11’ due to injury, and playing behind Enders last season. From what I heard, SBU’s likely starting senior QB didn’t look very good versus Montana State.

Anyway, Nova, SBU, and TU are probably your pre season top 3. Odds are, 2 of them will make the playoffs, and one will flop...

Hold on, isn't the kid Brennan, the transfer from Wisconsin, now Towson's starting QB?

Most likely Brennan. But I have heard rumors that Danny Obrien might be transferring in, which would be an odd twist because Brennan left Wisconsin because that is where Obrien went after Maryland benched him.
Peter Athens started 5-6 game in '09 as a true freshman until he blew out his knee, redshirted '10, started against Maryland in '11, and was back up all last year. He also played on the LAX team in '12. He's a solid #2, but it prone to making poor picks. Had Enders played in College Park, we would have won that game.

Our linebacking crew this year is going to be sick this year!
