BOULDER - The University of Colorado has secured Charleston Southern University as the opponent to replace the Sept. 14 Fresno State football game which was postponed due to the record rainfall and subsequent flooding in Boulder, CU athletic director Rick George announced Monday.
The game has been scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 19; the kickoff time will be determined once the Pac-12 Conference sets the television schedule for that day next Monday.
I haven't heard of a game being added in the middle of a season like this before. Plus this gives CSU no BYE week.

Where? According to
csusports.com, the Bucs are playing every week for the remainder of the season.

Wouldn't that mean 13 games? Didn't think NCAA allowed that..

I just saw this on TV. What a late addition. BDK, the Bucs were given a waiver.

A great opportunity for our program and our student athletes.
Instead of practicing against themselves on a bye week, they get to play against a PAC-12 team. There's no better way to get better than to play competition at the highest level.
Another paycheck. We got one paycheck from App State and we'll get another one from Colorado. More money to put toward the program.
Reward the student athletes with a pretty incredible road trip for their hard work and success.
The only downside to this opportunity is if someone gets hurt. If everyone comes out of the game healthy, it is a win-win.
Great job by AD, Hank Small and coach, Jamey Chadwell.

A strong showing here will really show us where the stand. I'm looking forward to the rest of the CSU season.

I get USC and CSU mixed up all the time and, honestly, who wouldn't?

This is great for the program. We need money to upgrade facilities. In the late 90's they packed that stadium a handful of times. 7,000+ when SC State came, nowhere to sit. NGU last week was sold out, standing room only. We don't need a 10,000 seat house, but, it'd be nice to make the entire home side the size of the middle section. That would expand seating from about 4,000 to maybe 5,000-5,500. Possibly add a student section in one of the end zones or if they expand the home side, just put those two bleacher sets in the A and C section on the visitor side to expand it.
It would do two things:
1- Help recruiting. Everyone knows that the #1 draw for offensive linemen is facilities, since they don't get much glory otherwise. CSU has always had good athletes on defense and skill positions. The OL is where they have often struggled. This would help.
2- Get bigger teams to come there. Citadel will never play @ CSU because we cant hold the people. Other SoCon teams have come there- Wofford a few times, VMI when they were SoCon, ETSU in 2001, and some others, but as the 1998 SC State game showed, bigger teams will flood our stadium.
If we could expand the seating, and add lights, who knows? How cool would a Citadel vs CSU game under the lights on a Thursday be??
This Colorado trip will add 300K or so to the fund, and it was unexpected, so maybe they can do something with it quick.

Seating shouldn't be the priority. If you want to play more teams there, you should add actual bathrooms to the stadium. Three portajohns leaning against the equipment shed is not appropriate.

I'd make the field less like a high schools. Hell, Bishop England, Summerville, Ashley Ridge, Cane Bay, Berkeley all have nicer facilities. And lights.

Agree. And Cane Bay has only existed since 2008.

Facilities are so important. It hits the ego of the player. Do you want to play in a small stadium, large stadium or small park with no lights?
