#1 NDSU vs #4 UNI

This should be a great game on Saturday. I always look forward to UNI coming up to Fargo. Watching highlights of UNI's games against Iowa State and McNeese State has shown they are a much improved team compared to last year. The O-line has done a good job of protecting Kollmorgen this year. In games like these it will come down to TOs and what kinds of adjustments the teams will make.

Keys for UNI:

- Get pressure on Jensen. He has had a ton of time to throw the ball this year. He is a good runner so LBers need to stay sharp.

- Convert on 3rd down. NDSU's defense is by far the best one UNI will face this year so keep the ball moving.

- Score 1st and try to keep the crowd out of the game. The crowd will be a factor.

- D-line has to play very well. Bison run north/south...take that away and make Jensen beat you passing.

Keys for NDSU:

- Do what makes you NDSU. Run the ball and short passing game. UNI's defense is very athletic so mix in some screens and misdirection to take advantage of over-pursuing.

- Play the field position game. Make UNI march the whole field to score.

- Stay assignment sharp on defense. Kollmorgen is a good dual threat QB. Keep Johnson under control, he will probably get some yards but don't give up the big play.

- Crowd noise. Keep them in the game.

This will be a hard hitting game. NDSU's second very tough game in a row. If NDSU can run the ball effectively then the score could be like last year's but if they make mistakes, like they did against SDSU then UNI could easily win this one.

IMO, NDSU is just too good this year for any FCS team to beat them but if any team can do it, it is UNI.

Cannot wait for Saturday.

Bison win 31-14

More of a tossup than nearly everyone thinks. My X factor: Both Kansas State and Iowa State are showing how badly they suck.

With the Cap'n Cat jinx and D1B hex, NDSU should win easily.

In reality, UNI is similar to Kansas St, but their players will play with more heart than KSU. Could come down to a last second play by whoever has the ball last. Wish I could see the game, but higher priorities on Saturday.

Betting straight up I'd bet on North Dakota State; especially with the Bison playing at home. But I think UNI is very good. I thought that before they clobbered McNeese and obviously nothing happened in that game to make me think less of them. Could be McNeese was way over rated. We'll see on that.

Capn said Kansas State and Iowa State are really bad. I don't think so. I think they're both middle of the road BCS league teams. I think both NDSU's win over Kansas State and UNI's win over Iowa State remain very impressive for FCS schools.

I kind of expect a defensive game. Probably not alone in that. I'll go North Dakota State 17-13.

Over on Bisonville you predicted a 34-13 UNI win.... :suspicious:

No way UNI comes close to 34 points.

No not really.

Watching highlights of UNI, they are a good team but NDSU is better. NDSU's defense is a lot better.

Oh, you watched highlights, huh? In that case, UNI probably doesn't have a chance.

I usually pull for NDSU because the were great conference partners in the GWFC, but I am leaning slightly towards UNI in this one if for no other reason than to give the rest of the FCS hope that we are not only playing for 2nd place. That and I have partied with Cap'n Cat and D1B and I would like to see them and UNI get a big win.

Yep, and I have this game and the UM/PSU game set for record on the DVR. Looking forward to watching both when I get back from Cal Poly's game tonight.

Ya, UNI does have a chance of winning. I just don't think it will happen, not this year.

UNI is a good team but not as good as K-State. We'll see in a few hours.

really? I had no idea.

It's not Kurt Warner University...he only played 1 season at UNI...he want good enough to beat out the other guys on campus prior to that.

Proud to say he is an alum, but it's not like he is our only nfl player.

We do have an alumn that was defensive player of the year in the nfl, Bryce Paup, (who is now on the coaching staff) had three starting ol in the league this season (Austin Howard, Brad Meester, and Chad Rinehart), wr Dedric Ward, and many others...
