SIU vs NDSU could be the only close game on the list other than Montana vs Cal Poly. I see big wins in the other games.

SUU beating up on a hapless EWU is the game of the week.

Not a stellar slate, so I just went with W&M at Maine.

A lot of meaningful games this week, but NDSU vs SIU is the top

Very curious to see how this game turns out. I feel like W&M will be the first good test to see how well Maine really is this season.

Went ahead and voted Sam Houston State at McNeese since that's the biggest one to me and I wanted to see the poll results. Hope McNeese miraculously finds a way to play defense. After watching UNI slice through McNeese's defense one week then watching Central Arkansas gain 496 yards in the first half the next week I think there is something to a Sam Houston State fan suggesting that West Alabama did so well against the Cowboys because their defense isn't as "good" as was during the previous two years.

Not that it was "good" during the previous two years. But there is signs that it is REALLY bad this year.

Not that West Alabama's offense isn't good. The 42 points it scored against McNeese is a tie for it's lowest point total of the season so far. Last week they beat then D-II #1 Valdosta State 49-30. But still. I think McNeese has played three good offenses this year and they've been torched each time. And I mean torched.

I went with this one too.
Should determine the conference winner and eventual playoff seeding.

I think there's some question about whether it'll determine the conference winner because of the team Southeastern Louisiana has this year. But it's big in the Southland Conference no doubt.

Don't be fooled by Southeastern Louisiana losing to South Dakota State. That was a function of the Lions committing six turnovers.

Got my vote. The two teams with the best records, although I think SHSU is going to pound McNeese.

Flanders is a machine, kinda like The Terminator.

Well you just never know. The McNeese defense I was so worried about took what Sam Houston State likes to do away. BearKats only had only 84 yards rushing at 2.6 per attempt. Flanders had only 22 yards rushing at 2.0 yards per attempt.

The thing that kept Sam Houston State in the game was what, to me, was a surprising effort by quarterback Brian Bell. Time after time he evaded the pass rush and made plays that weren't originally there. I never looked at him as a quarterback that can put a team on his shoulders when nothing else is working before. I guess it's because i've never seen him have to do that. But to me he did it yesterday. He was almost impossible to sack and he threw the ball very well while scrambling.

Sometimes thing go for the team you're pulling for and sometimes they don't. Yesterday they went the way of the team I was pulling for. McNeese had two TD passes on third and long situations to receivers that were very well covered. A lot of times those plays won't be successful. But they were yesterday.

Otherwise I was very heartened by McNeese's offensive line and running game. McNeese could run the ball right at Sam Houston State when it needed to. Like one time McNeese hit a receiver deep behind the BearKat secondary. But he stumbled and fell at about the 10 yard line. So then I'm worrying about whether McNeese could get it in. Two running plays between the tackles and they were in.

Then when Sam Houston State was clinging to one last hope with two timeouts left it was a situation where if McNeese makes a first down the game is over. Two straight running plays right at the Sam Houston defense and they had the first down. They just ran the ball successfully right at Sam Houston State all night.

Still could've been a different game without those two third and long pass plays being completed to well covered receivers. I didn't feel comfortable until they DID make that first down at the end to cinch it.

Wow. Watching the ESPN3 video of the McNeese at Sam Houston State game and the McNeese TD just before halftime to make the score 14-6 was an incomplete pass. Almost certainly would've been overturned if there was replay in FCS.

They did outplay Sam Houston State and may have won anyway. But wow. I guess I'll just say that sometimes luck goes one way and sometimes it goes another.
