Lafayette 5-6 IN playoffs

Post by 89Hen »

Patriot should lose their auto and not be allowed to have Fordham get an at large. This is bullshit. If Lehigh were to get an at-large, I may stop watching I-AA football. Lafayette lost to Sacred Heart, Penn, Princeton, Harvard, Colgate and got trounced by W&M. They do NOT belong in the playoffs. :ohno:

Yeah, I'm sure you will.

And Lehigh probably won't get in, though with all the implosions today there's actually still a chance.

The only thing worse than a 5-6 team making it is a conference that hasn't won a playoff game since the 90's getting three teams in. God the expanded field sucks ass.

I have no issue with it. I like that fact that every FCS conference champ gets an automatic bid. That means that every team in FCS except for the few that are not in a conference controls its own destiny and peoples' opinion doesn't matter. To me that's one of the best thing about a playoff system like FCS has.

I just looked this up yesterday; I've been wondering about that all season seeing Fordham at 0-0 the entire way. Fordham went to schollies before the conference gave the go-ahead, so every year they did so (including THIS year), the conference declared them ineligible for the conference title. Everyone in the conference will be up to speed next year, so Fordham will be eligible if they're still good enough.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

I like the 24 team field. I do think the committee's at large selections include some head scratchers. If it were up to me they would establish a power rating system selected on the basis of how well it predicts game outcomes as the way to select at large teams as well as to seed teams. They'd set it before the season and say that the chips will fall where they may. They'd eliminate the concept of a "selection committee."

But you don't like power rating systems.

And then some computer puts in a 6-6 team with no way to override. No thanks. 16 was the right number for the playoffs IMO.

Lafayette beat 2 ranked teams in a row to end the season. This is a different team with our Freshman QB at the controls.

By the way Lafayette won the PL with or without Fordham. Lafayette beat Fordham, and both teams finished 5-1 in the PL. Per the tie breaker Lafayette would still get the autobid given their head to head win over Fordham. Yes, Fordham is ineligible, but it didn't matter.

I hope UNH takes the Leopards lightly this week.

You need more teams in the conference, then. Playing a conference schedule of just 6 games leave the likliehood like a 5-6 team making the playoffs more possible. The Southland was like that for awhile, too. Too few conference games leads to outliers like this.

Why don't you guys join?

Maybe you can win a conference title every now and then.

But then lose 40-0 sometime later in the playoffs? Nah, it's good to know we could win the whole thing when we get there rather than just getting the participation medal. Do you guys put those medals in the trophy case alongside the orange wedges the players get to have at halftime?

So you're saying they needed more Patriot patsies. 0-5 OOC = you should NOT be in the playoffs.

I'm sure you're nervous. I don't blame you.

With the PL offering scholarships it will be that much harder for UD to recruit the players they need to contend.

Nonsense, you guys have already said that the academic constraints will still prevent you guys from competing with everyone else. The AGS board is practically full of reasons why the Patriot will still not contend.

Maybe if we had an OOC schedule filled with team like Wagner, Jacksonville and Delaware State we would've done a little better.

Not every year, but in certain years we will have teams that will contend.

I wouldn't count on it, and I'm not sure what UD has to do with this, they are not in the playoffs. Don't belong there. LC doesn't either.

If you win your conference you get in the playoffs. That is the way it is for every sport in every division of the NCAA where the NCAA sponsors a tournament.

Quit crying like a bitch. You sound like Clenz.

Why do you need the easy OOC schedule when you alrady have the easy in conference schedule you went 5-1 against?

And like 89 said, no UD fan is saying we belong - we don't, we're not very good. We're just able to admit it.
