There is no WAY there were 17,000 people in Wa/Griz. No way.

I bet there were. They weren't there at the start, people waited inside until the last moment. Also after half a lot of people didn't come back.

But for most of the first half there were a lot more people than I had expected.

Well, the crowd shots throughout the game (from the comfort of my living room) showed a butt-ton of empty seats...and that didn't matter what time of the game it was.

3/4's full with windchills in the negative teens. I'll take "red carpet" over a prairie barn.

They're too busy buying flat billed hats at the mall and studying to keep that C in sociology.

60 or 70 percent capacity with -10 Wind Chills and the coldest game in school history the week before finals. I'll take that. What's the excuse for the southerners?

Try again. Next time throw a little bit of class in there.

When you go through the gate, are tickets scanned with a device or just ripped and taken by an attendant?

Hey! We crept all the way up to 34th in attendence this year, averaging over a sellout.

This cold snap would have been a named storm on the least coast with Christie and whatever the fuck your governor's name is huddling with your boy, Obama, seeking FEMA relief. :tothehand:

Half the UD fans braving the elements would have snapped limbs from the cold, the other half who are actually under 70 would've been stuck mid-steam to the pee wall.

I'd mention something about the attendance at Delaware and Montana State from this last weekend, but I tend to rise above such low brow shenanigans. :tothehand:

Truly, TRULY Pathetic! :ohno: :ohno: :ohno:

We were embarrassed in the parking lot before the game. It was obvious we were'nt going to come close to filling it half way. Student tailgate was fucking empty! Their tickets were $5.

Hey now, I actually said something good about you field and you compare the Fargo Dome to the Gophers basketball facility.

Williams Arena, located on the Twin Cities campus of the University of Minnesota is the home of the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers men's and women's basketball teams. It also housed the men's hockey team until 1993, when it moved into its own building, Mariucci Arena. The building is known affectionately as "The Barn," and its student section is known as "The Barnyard".

I must admit - largely because of message board comments about EWU and flat billed caps - I chuckled when BLM was interviewed and he was wearing a flat billed cap.

For all the regular season games they were scanned but for the playoff game they were torn. Don't know if it's because it was so cold or they just didn't want to use the scanners.

Fair enough.

Can't say I'm a flat-biller myself.

There actually was! I'll explain why.

Everyone knows that Nike loves the Griz. Well, little know fact, Carhartt does too!

Carhartt introduced a new line of camo clothing for extreme cold weather sports fans. I believe it's called Aluminum/Concrete Como.

A lot of Griz fans were wearing it...more in the 2nd half! Apparently, it doesn't represent well on HD TV. And, that mighta' been the reason you didn't see the folks in the stands.

I wasn't wearing it, and I was there! Trust me, it was BUTT-ASS COLD!!!

Well the capacity is 26,000 so that would mean nearly 10,000 empties, which I think qualifies as a butt-ton.

But yeah, I'm sure there were some people who bought tickets and then wimped out when they stepped outside Saturday morning. :ohno:

I know, man! Our marketing guys screwed it up. Lehigh sold out, but football games don't sell themselves. You have to market them. The week of, there were signs in the grass along Bosley and Osler and Towsontown Boulevard. That's awesome if you're advertising a flea market, but desperate if you're trying to get people in for playoff football. Seriously. Our lowest attendance of the year. Sad, just sad. Press box side was rocking, but aside from a few cutaways (I was in one of the shots right at the beginning), they only showed the student, Fordham fans and a bunch of empty seats.

Also, as for students, SGA was only helping to comp so many of them. Regular student price was $10.

Edit: RA was pissed.

Capacity: 25,203 - actual attendance: 17,345 = butt-ton of empty seats: 7858
