Thank god. The SoCon is going to be shitty especially with their addition of VMI.

Give the OVC their due, they took the heat when they didn't produce in the past but they look good so far this postseason. Very curious for the Towson-EIU game.

If either team makes it to the next round, I'll be impressed. Otherwise, there should be an asterisk next to their victories.

TSU beating Butter only counts in the special Olympics scoring. JSU getting Samford was a gift. McNeese, a team with two blowout losses, and a team that gave up 42 points to DII West Alabama, was another gift.

MUCH more impressed with the win over McNeese than EIU's win over another conference patsie.

Ha, was away this weekend. Congrats to JSU, but why congratulate EIU for beating another OVC team? :?

Really, the breaking news is that the CAA and OVC comprise half the quarterfinalists. Besides, you really can't fault me for not picking a conference that O for over a decade in the playoffs. :coffee:

We'll, if I'm correct, the last team the OVC won a playoff get prior to 9 days ago was 1996, and had lost 19 straight....

If we are going to live in the past, then are we going to allow non-white people to post on here too? I mean if we are going to judge on the past. . .

Fair enough, on a more serious note, as much as I would like JSU to win this weekend Im also a realist :thumb: JSU is going to need a miracle from baby Jesus to win, although I do think EIU will handle their game +14

Eagle, do you touch a hot burner every day thinking, well I was burned yesterday, but that's the past, maybe today will be different? We've seen many OVC teams that look legit, only to crap out in the first round. You act as if we're dismissing them based on nothing. 1996... the last OVC victory in the playoffs... the same year my daughter who is graduating HS this spring was born.

Agreed. The OVC earned every bit of disrespect they have received over the years due to their absolutely abysmal playoff performances.

They are certainly doing better this year, but remember, one of them got to this point by playing another OVC team. The big getting up moment is this weekend - they get two teams through to the semis and there's no doubt they have turned a corner in respectability. If they go 0 for 2 this weekend, well, then not so much.

I agree with everything being said, but JSU beat Samford when most people were chosing Samford, they beat McNeese when most people were going with McNeese. . . EIU cant help who they get paired against, just like the all the conferences cant help how many teams get into the playoffs. Im not saying the OVC is NOW a dominate conference, but I am saying they are not the conference of old.

OVC looks as good as it has looked in a while, but a couple of important facts here.

Jacksonville State so far has beaten a Samford team without Fabian Truss and Chris Cephus who also for some reason has been on a downward spiral late in the season. They also beat a McNeese team that is very famous for doing well in the RS and then falling over and dieing in the first round of the playoffs. See 2007 when they had a great RS and then got run off the field by EWU.

I am very impressed with EIU, though. EIU, EWU, and NDSU are the three best teams in the playoffs IMO.

Agree whole-heartedly with this statement. . . Looking into the future though, unless Coach Babers brings in some studs, they are losing JG, Lora, and Sheppard. Thats a ton of ammo to be losing, but we shall see. Hopefully they can run this season all the way to the NC

Sheppard is a Sophomore. Taylor Duncan and Lera (our other RBs) are Juniors. Our next three WR after Lora are all Jr. and Sophomores. We did have 4 WR in the top 100 in yards (3 top 50) and TD. Defensive is where EIU will take a hit. Many of those on the line and secondary are seniors.

 Right. EWU should win this fairly easily.. You could also say eiu hasn't REALLY been tested.. :coffee:

It was 2000, when Western Kentucky blanked Florida A&M.

C'mon, Samford was a horrible team that won the horrible SoCon. It is the SoCon that was not the conference of old.

And McNeese? Those soft cowboy clowns already had gotten wiped out twice earlier in the season, and almost lost to DII team. Congrats, JSU, you managed to score eleven fewer points than a directional DII team.

If the OVC can win a game this weekend, than you have a team worth talking about. If not, then there should be an asterisk next to the OVC playoff wins.

Nope, there will be some reason that EIU won . . .EIU is holding a coaches kid hostage, the other team contracted a stomach virus from the gaterade, someone from EIUs team put icy hot in there jocks, or some other crazy reason why an OVC team won. . .
