For Stat Geeks Only

Post by Keeper »

:ugeek:

My annual list of FCS teams showing number of starters lost offense & defense, and stats lost by position.

Here is the link: http://home.comcast.net/~keepersfootbal ... ngconf.htm

Please bring to my attention any glaring errors you might find, or any question you might have.

Does your spreadsheet also take into account players lost to injury or grades who would otherwise be playing this year?

Yes to both, if known. The news wires are scarce on FCS.

Any examples would be appreciated.

Ouch, only 4 teams lost more than the BareK**ts. Aug 23 is gonna be a curb stomping.

For example NDSU's offensive line? I believe between graduation and injury they don't have a single starter back (or something like that)

That's an impressive piece of work.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

As shown on the survey, NDSU returns one 14-game starter in Joe Haeg plus two linemen who started 2 games each. Zach Johnson is out for season injured, Josh Colville retired from knee problems. So the survey as published is correct. Bison lose 76 percent of offensive line games started, or basically 4 out of 5.

Somehow, a survey involving NDSU Football doesn't seem all that trustworthy. ;)

Well done Keeper, well done. Very impressive and thanks for the effort you put into this. :thumb: :notworthy:

For clarity, the "RUSH" and "PASS" are the previous season offensive averages correct?

Correct, sir.

2013 RUSH & PASS per game are given for one to evaluate offensive balance
and whether either is potentially more affected by the loss of players.

Thanks. Just using that as an example....sounds like you've got it covered, as far as the info available at press time... nice work!

Ok cool. Was thinking since this was an analysis done to see an impact of players leaving that those would be a "revised" average to indicate the portion of production lost.

This was greatly used in my preseason analysis. Thanks for the great information that is usually only done for FBS teams!
