I say the Chickens win that game straight up.
No way Towson State is THAT close to Central Connecticut. AZ is MUCH closer to the truth for THAT game....
Watch B&M give up at least one blocked punt en route to the huge loss AZ is predicting....

I don't disagree with the FBS larger margin of victories. In a prior post, I've already conceded the CAA FBS games. I'm really just hoping the CAA has some respectable outings and don't suffer too many injuries.
Maine is a traditioally slow starter. It would be great if they could put up 38 in their first game. I just hope they don't choke and lose. For UR & TU this is nothing more than a glorified scrimmage, but they both have to figure out what works and what don't, hence the closer score. HC might win, but I'm pulling for UA.

CCSU is always tough, especially in the 1st game. Towson State will win, but it won't be easy, especially with the vanilla play calling.

Eh, a 6-6 JMU team beat them 38-14 last yr in the opener. I'd be stunned if TU didn't beat them by at least 2 TDs. I expect will win by 3-4 TDs..

LeadBolt, Hope your right, but I think you are crazy. Of course, I was there when we beat UVA in 2009, but I was also there when we trailed 41-3 at half at Tech in 2007. We came close the last two years, but the offense didn't score in the 2nd half. It is all on the QB and the offense this year. Let's hope that either Cluley is better than everyone expects, or the Tribe is playing mindgames and waiting to turn Brumbaugh loose. Also, whenever you hope to win in Blacksburg you have to handle kickoffs and punts well. The last few years, the kicking game has been a weakness.
Tech has been down the last 2 years, though.
I pick all the Home teams to win in Week 1 except I like NH over Toledo and JMU over Maryland.

Seeing that Nova Championship ring is particularly painful. Tribe was so close against Nova that year. Nova definitely earned it in beating the Tribe and then Montana.

I'm certainly crazy, and the Tribe doesn't have the best FBS record when I am in attendance, as I will be Saturday.
I understand that the special teams play is expected to be a strength this year, which is where you can lose to VT quickly, so hopefully we can break-even there.
I believe the Tribe this year is a really, really solid team in search of a QB. I'm hoping we find one Saturday. All the QB needs to do manage the game and throw enough to counter punch to help the running game. If the offense can hold on to the ball and move it enough to keep the defense fresh, we have a chance to win against a VT that is looking for a QB as well.

LeadBolt, I'll be there too. Like your positive attitude. If we had RJ Archer, I'd think we had a chance, and if we still had Lang Campbell, we would be a title contender. If Cluley is better than expected, we appear to be solid everywhere else. I just think it is very hard to win without a good QB. We did about as well last year as possible without being able to really throw the ball. We had so many good QB's for so many years, but since Archer in 2009, we really have had nothing since. Some of that is due to injuries(which appear to have already cost us 2 possibilities at QB already for this year).
The positive approach says Tech may be a little down this year and we were competitive the last 2 years without a solid QB, so maybe there is a chance. For all the CAA teams this week, the number one goal is to try and get through without significant injuries. I still like JMU over Maryland. I think JMU is going to be better and Maryland stinks. NH makes their opening statement with a win over Toledo.

TribePride, I'm in sec. 19 row UUU, stop by and say hello. You maybe right about JMU, but with a first year coach and pretty hefty graduation losses, it's hard to tell if the transfers and new system will be cohesive this early. I like UR's chances next week better vs UVA.
Since this is the second year for our OC, I'm expecting the o to come around. If the point production can rise from an average of 21ppg last year to 25+ppg this year, we should be a contender, even with a tough conference schedule. The QB has very good backs, receivers and line to work with.
I think the d will be solid and has a chance to hold opponents to 12-17ppg matching last year's solid 14ppg, as long as they don't have to stay on the field too long. Time of possession will be critical to this team.
I've heard that the special teams have continued to improve and that could be the difference in a few games. Unfortunately for this weekend, our profile sounds a lot like VT, with 22 fewer scholarships.
Now if Trey can get behind the defense a couple of times and someone can get him the ball...

I'm one day late in posting these but like mostly everyone else - I got the Stony Brook game incorrect - I have all home teams winning:
Albany 27 Holy Cross 21
Pitt 44 UD 21
Maine 35 Norfolk St 14
Toledo 37 UNH 24
Richmond 52 Morehead St 14
Towson 38 CCSU 14
VaTech 27 W&M 10
Duke 48 Elon 7
Maryland 37 JMU 17
Syracuse 31 Villanova 23
And Stony Brook just sounded plain awful against Bryant last night - 7 points & 186 yds of total offense - pathetic. I wish UD didn't miss Stony Brook this season.

What I posted on the JMU board on JMU's absolute f'ing embarassing disaster at MD today:
"-Withers had them completely unprepared at the start of the game. In the 1st 5 minutes of the game alone 6 penalties for 70 yds, including four 15 yarders. Interfering with the punt returner should never happen, but to happen twice in a row is unbelievable and absolutely inexcusable.
-Lee looked way over hyped. Poor passing, and didn't seem to be much of a runner.
-The OL struggled to pass block.
-The OL struggled to run block.
-The DL got shoved all over the place.
-The LBs looked absolutely lost.
-The tackling was atrocious.
-The secondary wasn't too bad, except for getting burned for a long bomb TD and 2 pass interference calls on TD drives.
-The only 2 things I saw that were good was the punting and all the attractive co-eds in the stands."
