I thought this story deserved its own thread.

Basically a Citadel offensive lineman, Victor Hill, leaked to a newspaper Sunday in an interview that the El Cid offensive line was "going for the knees" of the Florida State D-lineman in last Saturday's 37-12 loss vs. the #1 Noles.

All of the blocks were legal football plays as FSU coach Jimbo Fisher pointed out, but I can't say that Hill didn't warrant himself a suspension by telling everyone this.

Of course right now it may not seem like a big deal but I am willing to bet, other big schools will see this and be more reluctant to schedule The Citadel in the future...that means less money for the program, all because of this silly little chopblock.

Hill may have just set back the future of El Cid football in a big way.

Yep. I'll be at their next game vs Charleston Southern. We'll see if they've learned their lesson, or if they again go blatantly after people's knees.

I, too, suspect that they will get far fewer big games vs teams like FSU or USC. Maybe Citadel's AD needs to reconsider the coach and style he brought in.

I don't think it set the Citadel's football future back any though.

FCS teams aren't going to need to go after knees to hang 45 on CSU

They didn't go after knees? Ha. I'll take the Citadel players word for it, not yours. FSU players didn't get hurt on the plays where they went after knees. But they did go after knees. They even bragged about it on facebook.

Well, I'm sure the big, bad Citadel wont have ANY problems with CSU next week. With all ya'lls funding and history and alumni base and big 20,000 seat stadium and scoreboard....yeah, a little ole team in Ladson shouldn't even be able to keep it within 40 points of margin. Right?

You just have to understand The Citadel, and the mentality at that school. They believe they are Holier than Thou, on all fronts. In their minds...they are waiting any day now for the SEC to extend a formal invite for them to join. And the ONLY reason its taken so long...is that the SEC cant find a team that is as high a caliber as The Citadel to also invite to make it an even 2 team expansion to make it a 16 team league. Once the SEC can find a team worthy of being Citadel's co-invite member, then the invite will come. Just ask them. Seriously. That isn't THAT much of an exaggeration of the delusional arrogance of that fan base.

Well, you don't know much about CSU then. The "Holy" crowd makes up about 5-10% of the student body. That's why they changed the name, to grow beyond that.

But I was talking from the scope of the sports fans at the two schools. BUT, if you wanna go into moral issues at each respective university, I'd be MORE than willing to have that discussion. But you may wanna keep it sports oriented....for your own sake.

"Me and my offensive line brothers preached to each other all week that we would be going for knees from the first play to the last play with the A-backs included. We saw it as if they [won't] respect us for blocking them then we'll make them respect us for cutting them!"
