Re: 9/20 Griz visit the Fargodome - Ibanez Non-Game Day Vers

Post by Gil Dobie »

Well, it's Game Day today, note to Ibanez - not ESPN Game Day, and hopeful of a Bison win today.

Is Iowa State as bad as people think, after losing to NDSU, they took K-State to the wire and beat Iowa. K-State then gave Auburn a battle. UNI took Iowa to the wire, but UNI has not played a FCS game yet and has 2 FBS losses. Weber State game was closer than most expected, and there is nothing to take from the UIW game except that the Fr and Soph's had extended playing time. Montana on the other hand lost a FBS and beat an up and coming USD. Still comfortable with a 24-14 prediction, Griz go up early, Bison win in the second half.

Bison up 12-10 at the half.

NDSU could've run away with it early, but the Griz redzone D weathered the storm. In the second quarter, Johnson then threw a long pass to Jones inside the 5 which was actually UM's first 1st. down. Canada scored on the next play for the game's only TD. Then, following an insane catch over a DB's back by Henderson, Montana got stopped inside the 5 & kicked a field goal late in the half.

Griz have a great defense, stopped the Bison on 5 drives that finished in field goals.

Good game!

Griz did a good job bending & not breaking, but I'm not sure that's the best approach against NDSU.

I think the Griz will be stopping a lot of teams this year. Johnson is a great QB and has a legit deep threat with Henderson. Just need to keep both healthy.

Good game by both defenses yesterday.

Kudos to #78 OT (Lechler - Soph). He pretty much made #37 Waggenmann a non-factor in the game.

The Bison O-Line deserves some credit for 280 yards rushing. The red zone offense needs to improve and create touchdowns instead of FGs. The number of penalties were lower yesterday but still need to improve upon them.

Hope this game happens again this year.

Kudos to the Bison O-linemen for figuring out that the refs weren't going to call blatant holding.

LOL....if this makes you feel better.... :dunce:

Bison dominated both lines of scrimmage. Rushed for 280 and gave up 68.

Kind of a difference in officiating style, it seems. MVFC officials appear content to let obvious stuff go. We're used to Big Sky officials that invent penalties just so they can throw another flag.

Hey, I was happy when the ejection of little-george was reversed. I would prefer a fair game over bad calls winning it for you. However there were some really blatant holds that weren't called. Would they have changed the game? I dunno. But I think clear penalties should be called, on both sides.

Hey, Jackwagon, I was serious. The game should be played right up to the point where the ref is gonna call something. The Bison figured out early on how far they could push it without getting multiple flags...the Griz, OTOH, weren't able or willing to push it nearly to that extent, and it helped the Bison control the LOS for the most part.

Well, some of them also said that Weber was a decent team that's going to challenge in the BSC this year, and we all know that's not true. So, grain of salt.

Hey jackwagon, all you Griz whiners go back an watch the game again. If you want to complain about your so called holding that the Bison did.....whatever, then watch our #53 get mugged on a consistent basis.... :tothehand:

Plain and simple: The Bison were a better team on Saturday.

No excuse, I called it wrong.

AG1 is right about most of you internet Griz fans. I come on here an complement our young OT that did a great job against a very good pass rusher (#37) and the first thing you guys do is run with the excuses....

Montana played some good defense on Saturday. Both teams did. But you see, that is the difference. I'll give credit where it is do and you guys will just run your mouth with excuses.

I met some really awesome Montana fans in the tailgate and had a great time talking football.

I had the Bison by 10, 24-14. It's early and the Bison have not yet gelled and the O-Coordinator is getting his feet wet, so I didn't think it would be a blowout against a good Griz Defense. I'm just glad the game was in Fargo this year. They will have to gel fast or the MVFC will eat them up.
