The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) and the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) will meet in the newly created Celebration Bowl postseason game on Dec. 19, 2015, pitting the conference champion from these two Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU). The game will be played at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, on an ESPN network.
The Celebration Bowl is committed to providing the champions of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference and the Southwestern Athletic Conference, and their alumni, fans and sponsors a first-class bowl experience while continuing to celebrate the legacy, values and traditions of Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

"Celebration Bowl?" What kind of lame-ass name is that? That's almost like calling it the "Fun Bowl" or the "Postseason Bowl."
I'm not normally a fan of sponsor names replacing real bowl names, but even a "Quibids.com Bowl" would sound more respectable than "Celebration Bowl."

Hey can anyone familiar with the NCAA by-laws can confirm something for me?
The calender year for the NCAA begins July 1st, so any conference moves or Division changes would have to be announced before then for the proverbial clock to start that same year, correct.

I'm pretty sure that's right. Good luck getting your school to pull that off before
this July 1, though.

The fact that this has been in the works for over three months now, i would be very disappointed to find out that steps weren't taken prior to this announcement.

Timing is kinda funny... the SWAC is 0-19 all-time in the playoffs and the MEAC is 0 for last 18, so they wanted to stop before they caught the SWAC.

If the two bands are tied, do they really have the drumlines lay down two cadences each at the 50 yard line, or did the movie "Drumline" embellish that?

KFC is licking their chops at this sponsorship opportunity.
If the organizer was smart, they'd be getting Popeyes, Bojangles, and Churches interested to bid it way up.

Well, at least they didn't try to call it the Playoff Bowl. That's already been used...for ANOTHER lame game (the NFL's 3rd place game 1960-1969, all at the Orange Bowl).
Vince Lombardi wrote:[It's a] hinky-dink football game, held in a hinky-dink town, played by hinky-dink players. That's all second place is -- hinky-dink.
This lack of motivation might explain Green Bay's loss in the Playoff Bowl AND their unprecedented three-peat that followed it. To this day, nobody else in the NFL's post-season era has three-peated.

Oh, they're not afraid... just can't compete. Shit, Coastal won the Big South and the MEAC last year.

It'll be interesting to see how MEAC fans react in terms of attendance. Hopefully this will be a colossal failure.

so lets pay millions of dollars to 2 conferences that don't really play at the highest level of the FCS to cater to a demographic, yet, ESPN won't even promote the FCS championship game that they are televising. Screwed up
