Wow - either they are going FBS and didn't tell the MEAC, or hard up for cash

Can those schools really afford big payouts? ODU and Marshall are in wimp conferences, and Rutgers is B1GINO....

I would assume several hundreds of thousands of dollars each. Much more money than Norfolk State would earn playing other FCS schools.

Like the Big Sky, the NFC North turned down the membership because the Bison were too good.

Jackass. You root for North Texas and Liberty.
Norfolk State and ODU can't be more than a couple dozen miles from each other. Can't be much of a payout, dinner on them?

I think the "most fascinating matchup" involving Southland teams is McNeese State at LSU. McNeese started last season with a very good FCS team that was quickly decimated (again) by injury. But when it started full strength it gave Nebraska all sorts of problems. This year's McNeese team should, going in, be at least as good as the team that started the season against Nebraska. That's assuming they don't run into a bunch of injury problems during Spring and/or pre season practices and scrimmages. And LSU has issues.

Good thing for McNeese that that game isn't in late November. That's when they seem to struggle.

Liberty won a playoff game, and North Texas won a bowl game over Bobby Hauck last January.
What's so crappy about THAT?!?

1) Even NAU beat Hauck/UNLV
2) Liberty is still Liberty
3) North Texas is still in Denton

Yes they do seem to do better early in the season and also they have a history of giving big time teams competitive games. Not always; but a pretty good percentage of the time.

You know I didn't even know North Texas was IN a bowl game last January. But I personally think that's an artifact of how meaningless "being in a bowl" has become.
