The addition of turf comes with the addition of a stadium entrance plaza. These upgrades are ongoing and will be ready for the upcoming season. Yes, ours is actually the color of real grass and not sea foam green or any other goofy, artificial color.
"With the addition of the stadium entrance and the new playing surface, our university is making a commitment to athletic success," CSU head coach Jamey Chadwell said. "These additions add to the momentum created over the last two years by our team's success. They will enhance the gameday experience for our fans, and allow our team to compete on a state-of-the-art playing surface. We can show future Buccaneers we are committed to being a consistent, Top 20 program and our facility upgrades point to that."
"Artificial turf is a key component to all of the improvements we are doing in our stadium," CSU Athletic Director Hank Small said Monday. The turf will give our football team a more consistent playing surface and also bring a great look to the facility. The field, added to the new grand entry way and track, will allow spectators, student-athletes, and recruits see that CSU is committed to an outstanding stadium experience."
APT (sportsbyAPT.com), the global leader in high-performance engineered sports surfaces, recently installed its state-of-the-art Gridiron brand turf at the Philadelphia Eagles' practice facility in 2013. The company also has installed turf for the Chicago Bears' Walter Payton indoor facility, as well as the Hank Crisp Indoor Football Center at the University of Alabama.
"We chose APT/GSM for our field turf because of their state-of-the-art technology and extensive experience," Chadwell said. "Their product will allow us to have a playing surface that is of top-notch quality and with exceptional performance. I have no doubt in my mind that we will have the best playing surface in the country going forward."

Only seeing pics of it...it wasn't good but I doubt locals would disagree.
I think that's gonna look pretty nice and glad to see the Bucs doing some upgrades. Good job.

As a former player at CSU...I hate to see the grass go because I prefer football on grass.
But...the turf looks really good. And any modernization or upgrade to our facility is very welcome news.
Wonderful to keep seeing the slow but continued improvements! Who knows how well we can do if we ever get the facilities. We are without question the most overachieving team in the conference.

I guess seating or bathrooms aren't important.

For fuck's sake get with the times. Artificial grass has been proven to be less dangerous than real grass as far as injuries go. So just deal with it.

One, that's BS. Nobody will EVER be able to prove otherwise to my satisfaction.
Two, that's not the only concern. Unless you're talking about a bogus dome (which can be climate-controlled if a school wants to spend the bucks on that), you're going to lose dates during the summer (particularly in the Southwest with scads of dry heat or the Southeast with its extreme humidity) because the artificial turf is simply too hot. That's already happened in Cali, so don't go trying to explain it away, Willie. It's not going to work.
Artificial turf is stupid no matter HOW one looks at it....

You don't get it. Artificial turf costs less in the long run than maintaining grass.

If I looked out my plane window and saw that and didn't realize there was a football stadium down there, my first thought would be, "That's a big swimming pool".

As if they have a choice. They just go along with whatever the middle school decides.

I cant speak for the Southwest.
But Ole Miss and Southern Miss both play on artificial turf. And nowhere in the South is hotter than Southern Mississippi! The heat hasnt been a problem.
As for CSU....God is our #1 fan...he'll just cool the turf for us!

Ibanez yalls field looks like a giant swimming pool from the sky!
Boise used to have to scoop up dead birds off theirs bc they dove into what they thought was a lake. PETA protested it in the late 90s. Boise coach said they would change it "when PETA shows me a lake with white stripes" hahaha!! (Told by former CSU coach Jay Mills who was at Boise during that time)

Another cheap thrill with no basis in fact. The Sirens have NEVER played on anything below a high school. And THIS year, they're above that. Home field is Hughes Stadium at Sacramento City College.

Football was not designed to be played on grass. It's not like they sat around and said "OK fellers, what's our surface gonna be?!" It's what there was at the start so please be less dumb if you could.
The boys that play on it around these parts think it has definite advantages over grass so I'll trust them on the matter.

The shitty Baltimore Sirens play on Dundalk MS, sorry.

I am not a fan of the fake grass field. I get the reason for it though. The field Chuck South has designed looks nice. The only thing that matters if a school decides to go this way is that it doesn't look like a clown car accident. We all know who that is...

Years ago I didn't like artificial turf. But I'm talking about stuff like astroturf. The modern field turf stuff is, I think, better on balance than natural grass.

I sincerely applaud CSU for going to field turf. I really really do.
Getting rid of that 360'x159' beach volleyball court with a thin layer of grass clippings and chalk lines on top in favor of an actual playing surface is the best thing they could have done.
