Coastal Carolina hosts W. Illinois

Coastal and Western Illinois have only met on one previous occasion, a game WIU won 17-10. Coastal
Carolina hosted the Leathernecks in the opening round of the 2010 NCAA Division I FCS playoffs. The game
was CCU’s second ever playoff berth and the first time CCU — or any Big South program — had hosted a
playoff game.

This game also debuts the "Surf Turf" as this is the home opener.

CCU leads 10-7. 1:45 2nd

Weird that Coastal Carolina won. Western Illinois had almost 200 more yards of offense than CCU (546 to 349) and CCU had the game's only turnover. Sometimes you look at the stats and say, "OK well they had a lot of yards but couldn't run the ball." But that wasn't the case. The edge in yardage came from passing but they also ran the ball pretty well (4.5 yards per rushed 176 rushing yards wasn't too much short of CCU's 196). You look at the stats and don't know the score and you think WIU probably won by double digits. But not so.

CCU had a ton of return yards, IIRC.

WOW, had an all-time record crowd of 10,000 + at the first game on the teal turd..................I mean turf. LOL. Think about it for a second.

Same thing with Furman. On paper, FU was better.

Any cause for pause knowing the 6th best MVFC team came in and pushed CCU around - even if CCU won?

Maybe. I called him out last year for being a dick and said he was a VMI fan, probably for the same reason you mentioned, but he stated he's a Trojan fan. Either way, his cheating, piece of crap team has no room to talk.
