Nine out of 10
When you beat your "rival" 9 out of 10 years is it time to stop referring to them as your rival?

Crickets?
Ok, it's a little like kicking someone when they're down but there were some positive things for the Hens during this game.

Usually only the perpetually losing team (i.e., Hens, Bobcats, etc) still look at it as a "rivalry".vutomcat wrote:Crickets?

Really? We were getting along so well and you had to go there, the day after both teams lost...1-2 and 1-1.AZGrizFan wrote:Usually only the perpetually losing team (i.e., Hens, Bobcats, etc) still look at it as a "rivalry".vutomcat wrote:Crickets?

Doesn't change the fact that it's 24 out of the last 30...SACCAT wrote:Really? We were getting along so well and you had to go there, the day after both teams lost...1-2 and 1-1.AZGrizFan wrote:

But yes, we both appear to suck ass this year.

When has it EVER mattered what the season records were when it came to Griz/Scat?SACCAT wrote:Really? We were getting along so well and you had to go there, the day after both teams lost...1-2 and 1-1.AZGrizFan wrote:

While the win was nice, losing Robertson and 2 OL for an undisclosed amount of time will be tough. Luckily Nova has a home game against Penn this week followed by a bye. Going to need that time to heal up!

What's the all time series record? Also, are we talking 9 blowout wins or were there some close games?vutomcat wrote:When you beat your "rival" 9 out of 10 years is it time to stop referring to them as your rival?

I do think it's a shame if it's true that the Delaware Administration lost sight of what a special thing the school has in the form of the Delaware football tradition. Nobody else in the CAA has the football tradition Delaware has. Not even close.
If it's true that they've got an Administration now that's trying to destroy it that's really a shame.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

27-21 series record
There have been some outstanding games in the last 10.
Not sure you are old enough to know about Nova's history. They played at the D 1 level for decades and played in 5 bowl games Including the liberty and Sun bowls in the 60's before they ended the program in 1981 . Remember back then a bowl game meant something. They have 583 wins and a .557 winning percentage.
Delaware, admittedly,
was more successful at the lower level.
This Delaware team is young and has a promising QB. I know the Hen fans are convinced the program is headed nowhere but they played very well against the Cats.
I think the future may be a little brighter than some others.

Face it, your Wildkitties aren't going anywhere this year.vutomcat wrote:27-21 series record

nova was a perfect opponent for the Hens. Your OL was weak anyway, and the best part of the Hens is our DL. Add the loss of two OLs and you had our D controlling the LOS. Also, Robertson has not played well this year and really isn't a deep threat (yeah, first play of the game, blah, blah, blah...but he isn't going to beat you deep consistently, especially with that line), so all UD had to do was cover the short pass and Robertson's runs (and he isn't running as well this year...think that concussion is in the back of his mind after a summer on Wall Street). Since your offense was going nowhere, your D got tired from our big OL pounding on them. You guys really aren't built to handle a big OL for long periods. So, your O sucked and left your D tired, which allowed our OL to handle your DL at times.
Perfect storm for an upset...but Weaver loves to rush 3 when a team needs a long pass, so Groundhog Duh popped his head up again.
And let's not forget...with all of that, and as well as we supposedly played, we allowed you 28 points (you'll be hard pressed to do that often this year).
Anyway, with nova looking like a wounded duck, JMU should run away with the CAA title. UNH joins nova as a shell this year. W&M is looking good, as is Stony Brook. Who knows about the rest of the teams, but UD is limited in what we can do.
BTW, we lose three SR DLs. Some people say we have depth waiting, but my bet is this is the best DL UD will have over the next three years.
In the meantime, nova loses the recruiting advantage they gained by telling people they were going FBS, and Talley isn't getting any younger (or smarter...who needs a kicker, right)...so nova's successful football days are limited.
These signatures have a 500 character limit?
What if I have more personalities than that?

Re: Nine out of 10
UD is in tear-down mode relying on a youth movement. Translation - playing for the future versus this year.
Admittedly we did much better against Nova than I anticipated. Like the Eagles, Nova has major concerns with their OL. I was surprised by the way Nova's backup QB played - it's like they really didn't miss a beat.
Tomcat is right that Nova has had our number over the past decade - it's something that needs to change.

Delaware has only had two good teams in the past 10 seasons. Nova's 9-1 in the past ten is probably only one game better than should have been expected.
And this so-called rebuilding plan, I wouldn't hold your breath for Bill. Take a look at Brock's resume and show me where he's ever been successful anywhere. Dude is a nice guy, but couldn't coach a seagull to eat a boardwalk french fry.

Oh believe me, breath not held - I don't think he produces a playoff team next year.93henfan wrote:Delaware has only had two good teams in the past 10 seasons. Nova's 9-1 in the past ten is probably only one game better than should have been expected.
