Just kind of catching up on various games and decided to see how that Kade Harrington guy at Lamar did this past weekend. He rushed for 347 yards against Abilene Christian. I mean good GRIEF. 12.8 yards per carry. An 80 yard TD run included.

It was a Southland Conference record.

ESPN does not have the game listed, but the Lamar Tweeter has their game this week @Northwestern State -- 7:00PM EDT being streamed online.

The Northwestern State rushing defense is ranked 121st in the FCS, giving up 6.81 yds per carry and 312 rushing yds per game, with 22 rushing TDs in 5 games.

I watched the 80 yard run...he went from 0-top speed in maybe 10-15 yards...what year is he?

Junior. Another thing about him aside from the rapid acceleration is he has this ability to do a very quick, waste almost no forward momentum wriggle to avoid tackles.

A Lamar guy posted on the McNeese board that Lamar was his only scholarship offer. The guy was a Texas AAAAA All State running back in high school and if what that guy wrote on the McNeese board is true Lamar was the only school that offered him? I'll bet there are other Southland schools wishing they'd offered him NOW. I sure wish McNeese would've offered him.

Lamar lost last night but not because Harrington didn't do his part. 282 yards rushing, scored all five Lamar TDs including a 79 yarder.

BUT, he did fumble out of the wildcat on the 5 yd line and NW State picked it up and ran it 95 yd to put them up 20 and seal the win. He is however the real deal.

I don't know but he should be. To me, as I wrote on the McNeese board, at this point he's making what Tim Flanders was doing at Sam Houston State a few years back look pedestrian.

He's leading FCS in rushing right now. And this is what he's done in four conference games:

Sam Houston State 230 yards, 9.6 yards per carry, long 73
Southeastern Louisiana, 152 yards, 7.6 yards per carry, long 55
Abilene Christian, 347 yards, 12.4 yards per carry, long 80
Northwestern State 282 yards, 7.8 yards per carry, long 79

Overall in four conference games: 1011 yards, 9.4 yards per carry. If I had to bet I'd bet not but it's not beyond the realm of possibility that he could go over 2000 yards this season. He only had 8 carries for 48 yards in limited action during a 66-3 win over Bacone College in the season opener then only 56 yards in 16 carries against Baylor. So he's at 1115 yards with four games to go. But three of the four games are against Houston Baptist, Nicholls State, and Incarnate Word. The last game is at home against McNeese and McNeese has been playing really good run defense so far. But with 885 yards to go to get to 2000, the way he's been piling up yards, and the three opponents coming up I wouldn't be shocked if he reaches 2000 before he gets to McNeese. I wouldn't bet on it but I wouldn't be shocked either.

Of course the first two of those games especially may be big blowouts so he might get pulled early. We'll see.
