vs. FCS: 0-0 Overall: 4-7
Best Performance: (#17) Portland St. 59, (#16) Montana St. 42 - When you score touchdowns on each of your first 8 possessions, it doesn't really matter that your defense gave up touchdowns on 6 of its first 8 meaningful possessions.
Worst Performance: UC Davis 27, Northern Colorado 56 - The Aggies allow NoCo to score touchdowns on their first 6 possessions in an ugly, ugly performance.
Most Surprising Result: Northern Colorado 56, UC Davis 27 - The Bears get their 2nd. conference win, which equals their total for the past two seasons combined.

NConf Record: 0-0 Overall: 6-15
vs. FCS: 0-0 Overall: 0-3
Best Performance: Stephen F. Austin 28, (#23) Southeastern Louisiana 27 - The Lumberjacks finally do something that resembles last year's quality play as they overcome a 20-0 deficit and hold SELU scoreless over the final 27:00.
Worst Performance: Houston Baptist 17, Nicholls St. 38 - Just when you thought the Huskies were ready to make some progress, they get outrushed 291-30 by a team they actually defeated last year.
Most Surprising Result: Lamar 35, Northwestern St. 48 - Kade Harrington does his usual thing (282 yards rushing, 5 TDs ), but that still wasn't enough to protect the lousy Cardinal defense from a loss to the winless Demons.
Best Performance: (#7) South Dakota St. 38, (#11) Youngstown St. 8 - The Jackrabbits dominate the favored Penguins by holding them to 13% on third down and just 3 redzone points.
Worst Performance: (#2) North Dakota St. 21, South Dakota 24 - In a very un-Bison-like performance, NDSU loses rushing yardage and allows South Dakota to pitch a second-half shutout.
Most Surprising Result: South Dakota 24, (#2) North Dakota St. 21 - Even more stunning was that this upset came after a 14-game conference losing streak for Joe Glenn & the Coyotes.
Best Performance: (#14) Eastern Kentucky 27, Southeast Missouri St. 10 - Bennie Coney puts up a 171 efficiency rating while the Colonel defense holds SEMO's potent rushing attack to 31 yards in a solid road win.
Worst Performance: Austin Peay 14, Tennessee-Martin 44 - The Governors fall to 1-19 in their last 20 Ohio Valley games as they allow the Skyhawks to easily clinch the Sgt. York Trophy.

Best Performance: San Diego 27, Drake 0 - The Toreros easily rebound from last week's disappointment thanks to Anthony Lawrence's 326 yards and 2 TDs passing.
Worst Performance: Davidson 7, Butler 38 - The Wildcats go 1/12 on third down and lose rushing 221-37 in yet another humbling effort.
Most Surprising Result: San Diego 27, Drake 0 - Not a real surprising result, but it is worth nothing that San Diego now leads the all-time series between these two teams for the first time ever (12-11).

I don't know if MSU played their best but to me they were the underdog going in. Portland State appears to have a really good football team this year. Yes I know they lost to North Dakota. That's a mystery to me but upsets happen. I just can't see MSU getting beat by Portland State as the worst performance in that conference. I think Portland State has the best team in that league right now and may be a national title contender. Might be proven wrong as time goes on but right now that's what I think.

Gawd I hope not..... But raising a two year old has taught me to take things one day at a time, celebrate your victories and learn from your mistakes. Looking forward to the game in Providence Park on Halloween (wish I could be there).

Not really a mystery. NoDak's pass defense is bad but nobody can run on them. It was a bad matchup for a run-heavy offense like PSU's.

NConf Record: 0-2 Overall: 15-19
vs. FCS: 0-1 Overall: 14-17
Best Performance: Bucknell 14, (FBS) Army 21 - The Bison kept Army's option attack in check for pretty much the whole game, but they just couldn't mount any offense in the second half.
Worst Performance: Lafayette 0, (#18) Harvard 42 - The Leopards had minus-18 rushing yards here and now rank dead last in the nation with just 44.7 ypg.
Most Surprising Result: Bucknell 14, (FBS) Army 21 - Bucknell did play their first close game with Army since 1900, but the Patriot League just misses a chance at going 2-0 against the Black Knights this season.
Best Performance: Bryant 38, Duquesne 17 - Dalton Easton throws for 330 yards and 4 touchdowns to help the Bulldogs rebound from last week's surprising loss.
Worst Performance: Wagner 14, St. Francis (PA) 43 - The Seahawks are outgained 628-253 by a conference opponent and fall to 0-6 in the post-Hameline era.
Most Surprising Result: Duquesne 17, Bryant 38 - With an opportunity to seize control of the NEC race, the Dukes fail to show up.

Worst Performance: Albany 0, (#25) Villanova 37 - I don't know what's going on in the state capital, but the Scooby Doos have been outscored 113-7 in their last three games.
Most Surprising Result: Maine 10, Yale 21 - Coming off an easy win, the Black Bears lose at home to a thus far disappointing Yale squad.
Best Performance: Monmouth 20, (#22) Liberty 17 (OT) - The Hawks utilize strong redzone defense and a 3-0 turnover advantage to score a nice upset.
Worst Performance: Gardner-Webb 7, Kennesaw St. 12 - As expected, the Bulldog defense played tough and didn't even give up a touchdown. Their offense reverted to their usual invisibility, however.
Most Surprising Result: (#22) Liberty 17, Monmouth 20 (OT) - Two straight losses to conference non-contenders is making this a very disappointing season in Lynchburg.

Worst Performance: Columbia 7, Penn 42 - The Lions fail to build any momentum from last week's rare win as they handily lose the Magnoli Bowl.
Most Surprising Result: Princeton 31, Brown 38 - Just when you thought the Tigers might be returning to their 2013 form, they fall flat in Providence.

Best Performance: North Carolina A&T 24, Bethune-Cookman 14 - Despite being outgained by nearly 200 yards, the Aggies now stand alone at the top of the MEAC standings.
Worst Performance: Delaware St. 13, Florida A&M 41 - Hornets commit 5 turnovers against a fellow winless team.

Worst Performance: Mississippi Valley St. 21, Texas Southern 49 - This was sadly MVSU's best game of the season in terms of scoring margin.
Most Surprising Result: Prairie View A&M 47, Southern 42 - Johnta Hebert gets 398 all-purpose yards and a triple-100 game for the Panthers: 114 rushing yards (2 TDs), 170 receiving yards (2 TDs), 114 KR yards.

UNC led 42-3 at halftime and scored on their first offensive play of the second half to make it 49-6. That game was not as close as the score indicated.

And I would have put the Weebs win over UND as the most surprising...
Losing to a top-15-caliber team (at least) in Portland State by 17 isn't nearly as bad as losing to perennial bottom-dweller Northern Colorado by 29.
I picked NoDak to win, but Weber was a slight favorite.
Having gone back and looked at NoDak's wins and losses, they're about as unpredictable as hell. But UNC DOES have 4 wins already this season...when was the last time they could say that?

We were 5-6 in 2012, thank you very much.
Holy shit, so were we. Now I remember why I did my best to forget that season.

Yes, but 6 games in you were 1-5 and 7 games in you were 2-5. Hence the word ALREADY.
