*OFFICIAL* CSU vs CCU Game Thread

Had to do it for this one, this one is huge. The Unofficial Big South Championship Game will be held in Charleston, SC this upcoming weekend. I personally will be making the trip down from NC to see this one. Some things that come to my mind about this one.

Coastal leads the series 8-4 all-time.
Series is 1-1 in the Jamey Chadwell vs Smokin' Joe era.
In the Chadwell - Moglia series, both home teams have won.
CSU currently ranks #1 in the nation in total defense, breaking records in the process and held Gardner-Webb to 110 yards last week.
Coastal knows how to win the Big South, possibly looking at its 4th straight title.
Coastal beat Monmouth 23-20 whilst CSU handled the Hawks 37-7.
Coastal ranks top #25 in the nation in total offense.
Only CSU win not a decisive victory was Presbyterian, 4 wins by a TD or less by CCU.
CSU top 10 in rushing offense, 2nd in conference, CCU dead last in rushing defense in the conference.
CSU has never beat a team ranked #1 in the FCS polls in their history (CCU ranking could change).

My meter is slightly favoring Chadwell and the Bucs, can somebody shift my meter the other direction?

Biggest game in CSU history. 1st one was 2005 CSU vs Coastal for BSC title (CSU in 2OT).

Stadium will overflow by 2-3000. CSU absolutely MUST FIX THE SEATING FOR 2016.

I guess the question would be: is Coastal struggling with weaker teams because they're actually overrated, or are they just playing to their opponents' level and waiting to strike hard against a legitimate contender (like Ohio State has done)?

I'm feeling Chuck in this one, but mvehskfudnslrhti makes a good point. You gotta wonder if they pull it out. The danger of playing down and having close games is that eventually you slip and get bit.

I think Coastal is playing down. They've got Ohio state syndrome. Both had incredible seasons last year and are considered one of the best 2-3 teams in the nation. Yet...struggling with lesser teams.

Target on their back every week. Complacency. CCU plays down and every opponent plays up.

I know when CSU faces them...Coastal will be at full throttle. Gonna be a monster of a game.

How many ways can you say that the series is 1-1 with current coaches? That's the 3rd way, btw.

Coastal has been playing close all season and there is a lot of hype going into this game. I think we eek out a win, but it won't come as easy as we would hope.

That said, i'll be on the sidelines of the Baptist High School of North Charleston. Hopefully you guys rent some stands and face them TOWARDS the field, this time. Last time, you guys had stands facing away from the field, and locked so they couldn't be moved.

That's a good, valid point. Coastal understands that you can win all your games, but losing to CSU is unacceptable. Joe has taught the players that you're last win means nothing. We will be cocky, we will be fired up, but we won't be complacent.

I see it being a close game, but not down to the last minute.

I guess this is trash talk week. Let's do it.

I think STD State University will come infect God's campus with who knows what new diseases the coeds have created up there. Luckily....our new turf wipes right off with some hot water and soap so it won't last beyond the weekend.

I think CSUs run game matches up well with the opponents run D so we probably throw a lot less and try to control the clock. Our D is ranked among the top in the nation, if not THE top (haven't got updated stats) but we can shut the run down.

If we can run it and STD State cannot....we have a shot. I also think it goes into the 4th tied up. And a turnover or special teams bust will decide the game.

And those bleachers were turned for a reason. Some people want to sit and enjoy the view of the skyline of South Ladson. The Wendy's, Waffle House and Kangaroo station set on the backdrop of Trident "hospital" is beautiful.

That's John Madden for that wonderful analysis.

Spoiler: show
And don't go knocking on Trident. It might be a shitty building and a bad hospital, but those outlying buildings are my inheritance and they always pay on time. :thumb:

Will you be in attendance?

I'm not looking forward to going to a middle school for a game, but it should be good. Like all good baptists, I'm sure the tailgating will occur in dark closets and back rooms.

I would be if it wasn't A night game on Halloween. I'd love to go, but it is a horrible stadium and I can watch it better on my TV. Plus I'm going out that night, in MB with my other half.

25% I change my mind though.

It's a 2:00 pm. It only seems like a night game because it's in North Charleston, and the sun never shines in that part of town.

Edit: When did this game get moved to 7PM?! My printed schedule say 2.

Yeah, I don't want to stand the entire time. Or walk all the way around the stadium to piss.

Game of the year in the BS.
CCU wins:
-CCU likely finish 11-0/6-0 & a top 3 seed (maybe #1).
-CSU likely finishes 8-3/5-1 with 2 I-A losses (already lost to Troy & still @ Alabama 11/21), 7 Div I wins, would get an at large.

CSU wins:
-CSU likely finishes 9-2/6-0 with 2 I-A losses (already lost to Troy & still @ Alabama 11/21). Wins BS AQ.
-CCU likely finishes 10-1/5-1.
I doubt 2 BS would get seeded. ? Then who would get the seed? My guess is CCU would get the #7-8 seed, and CSU would get screwed..

Coastal Carolina will be the first top-ranked FCS team to visit Buccaneer Field and will be the first time CSU has faced a team ranked No. 1 in the FCS. The Bucs have played a top-ranked team before, squaring off against Tim Tebow and the No. 1 Florida Gators to open the 2009 season.

If we win and win the BS...I don't care about playoff seeding much. I'd be happy with just winning the BSC.

HOWEVER...The Citadel is gonna win the SoCon and make the playoffs. And I want them in the playoffs. They said they'd never play us again after this year's 3 peat. Think again loud mouths....

It's been 7 for a while. Coastal writes their schedule in crayon so students are comfortable reading it...so maybe something smeared your 7 to a 2. It could happen
