Well just found out about this...granted I dont think he will get the position based on who he is competing against. However it does look like he is ready to jump ship and go to the FBS level if the possibility arrises, he has a chance especially rebuilding SUU to the program it is now.

Surprising fact: Ed Lamb is the youngest head coach in the Big Sky.

Just before our game with them, I joined the North Texas fan forum to get a feel for how they viewed Portland State. I made some friends there and every now and then I drop by to read the mail.
You could tell that the rank and file fans were not all that enamored with Dan McCarney and they absolutely despise the AD Rick Villareal.
Ed Lamb's name has come up on the board, but for the most part, most of the fan base isn't all that interested in him.
They want a head coach with a Texas pedigree, who either already has or can establish relation with Texas high school football coaches, out-recruit the other Texas colleges, and can run run an explosive offense and Defense.

Unfortunate but not surprising that he's looking. I can understand wanting another 100k per year but North Texas is not a big jump in prestige. I think he's done enough that he could look bigger/better and be a legit prospect. This might also be a great time to get out, go out as a big sky champion on top. And who knows what he has next year? He could be getting his ass kicked on a regular basis next year with Cowser, Killebrew, Olsen and few other studs leaving, and not be as hot of a prospect.

I was surprised when I learned that since he's been there 8 years. He was only 33 when he was hired.

I think it sucks that the Freedom of Information Act requires that North Texas had to release the names of applicants for a job. I mean think about that. There are obviously circumstances where when someone applies for a job they'd like that to be kept confidential.

Not going to get it. That job belongs to Mike Canales.
That's not official, of course. Just SH's not-so-reliable opinion based solely on the fact that Canales was SH's position coach at UOP....
