If it happens it'll be the second time McNeese lost a successful head coach so he could go destroy himself in the hell hole that is the University of Louisiana at Monroe football program. The first time was after Bobby Keasler, who actually won pretty much the playoffs, went to Louisiana Monroe after the Cowboys lost to eventual national champ UMass by 2 points in the 1998 playoffs.McNeese State’s Matt Viator and Arkansas State offensive coordinator Walt Bell have emerged as two finalists for the vacant head-coaching position at ULM.
Of course that destroyed his career. I just don't get why ANYBODY would want to be head coach at Louisiana Monroe. If you want to go to a FBS school wait until an opportunity arises where you have SOME chance of success.
My brother said that maybe there's a bright side if he goes because maybe then McNeese will win some playoff games again. But I just don't know. He's the winningest coach in McNeese history and has the most consecutive winning seasons in McNeese history. Surely his luck in the playoffs would have to change at some point. Right?
