Rumor has it that a CERTAIN FEMALE Poster xcough TBH /cough is objecting to her husband going because it is their son's first birthday.

People!! It's his first birthday!!

No better place to celebrate it.

Party (that he won't remember) in the morning, game in the afternoon. Done. Don't you want him to be this happy?

What do you remember from your 1st birthday?
My mom and dad did fine not acting like the world revolved around my birthday. We always did some fun crap but if my dad was out for something and we did it the next day I never once gave a rat's ass.

We're traveling across the damn country and spending good money to do so. I'd think we'd get better treatment than this?

Have the birthday Friday, Sunday, Monday, whatever...it won't make one bit of difference to him...or you guys. It will be just as special.

When he grows up and you break the news to him that he had the chance, the once in a lifetime chance to hang out with the Zoo Crew and you stopped it for a silly adult party that was pretending to be a child's birthday I guarantee you that it is a weight you will not want to carry.

I would expect no less from these guys, seriously. They act like assholes but they are some pretty good dudes.

TBH, you won't regret hanging out with that bunch. Your head may hurt the next day, but a fun time will be had by all.

"fancy lad"? UNI grads don't go around calling our alma matter the Harvard of the Prairie or Palouse or anything like that. We're just salt-of-the-earth types who were fortunate enough to attend a great university. And because of our kindness and generosity, we like to wish similar fortune for others.

Ditto this. He will not remember his first birthday. The important thing is to celebrate with family and friends, the day doesn't matter.

Hopefully my daughter doesn't have a VB tournament that day so we can go.
