I-AA Classic Rewind

If anyone is interested...to pass the time until Sept. 3rd.

I haven't had the pleasure to watch this since it was broadcast live in 1985, but this is one of the best playoff games of all-time. A true classic. Amazingly good quality for 30 year old VHS.

It might be a little painful for the UNI faithful, but even they should agree that this game was a classic.

Play by play by the legendary Larry Munson. Probably the most iconic college football broadcaster in history. Tracy Ham, college football HOF member, and maybe even a Capt'n Cat and D1B sighting in there somewhere.

Kinda like this one. I was fortunate enough to be at this one. Never saw so much camo in the visitors section in my life. Was glad they were shut up. You can even see 89Hen waiving goodbye to the GSU faithful at 2:09:29

And the most memorable play (in a good way) that I saw live at Delaware Stadium (please excuse the audio). 34-0 in the second quarter in a first round playoff game. Fans never sat down (it was frigid that day), everyone going nuts and this was just an exclamation point on the first half. That 2003 run in the playoffs was something special.

UD 48 - SIU 7
UD 37 - UNI 7
UD 24 - Wofford 9
UD 40 - Colgate 0

Nice, back when UD had a football team.

My apologies. :ohno:

IIRC, that was the second worst hit he took that day. Didn't they knock him out cold in the third?

Sadly. It was also when GSU played meaningful games. Good luck in the R+L Carriers Bowl if you make it. :thumb:

Not sure. Man, seeing that quick crowd shot of the west stands at the 30 second mark shows what The Tub used to be, when football mattered at UD.

Kind of bittersweet seeing Keeler's last ice bath in Delaware there at 2:28:45. Too bad they choked and got jobbed by the refs in Frisco. Could have been a memorable season.

2004, JMU versus defending national champs UD. I was there..
JMU picks off 2 passes, blocks a punt, blocks a FG, and runs a punt back for a TD to win the Nov game 20-13.

The following week JMU loses by a FG to W&M 27-24. UD goes on to lose in the quarterfinals to W&M. JMU goes on to beat W&M in the semis and beat Montana in the NC game.

Edit: Accompanied by cheesy 80s theme music...

JMU @ Furman, 2004 quarterfinals (I was there). JMU down 13-7 with 5+ minutes left. JMU goes goes 14 plays/74 yds (84 after holding penalty) to score on a 4th and 1 with 28 seconds left, wins 14-13. Earlier in the game JMU had blocked a FU FG and recovered a FU fumble near the JMU goal line..Same 80s theme music..

JMU goes on to win the semis @ W&M and beat Montana in the NC game.

I do think Capn' Cat and D1B played in that game for Northern Iowa. Could be wrong but maybe they'll let us know. Let us know what their numbers are.

Cappy wore #74 and played LT. D1B was #99 and played LDE. They both played a good game. Cappy opened up some nice holes for their running game. D1B had a nice arm tackle on Ham to save a long run on 3rd down and force a punt. They both had nice mentions from Larry Munson.

UNI needs to bring that uniform set and color scheme back over this black and bright yellow crap they pass as school colors....purple and old gold are school colors not purple and yellow with black.

I'm actually okay with black but we need to go to a truer old gold

Current UNI head coach, Mark Farley is wearing 46 and playing MLB

I was there and it was a great game. The offensive performances were incredible. UNI couldn't stop Ham and company and GSU couldn't stop Dukie and company. You got the feeling that the last team with the ball and time to work was going to win and that turned out to be true.

Are you kidding? Those uniforms are hideous. They look like something the Washington Huskies bled all over in practice. :?

The gold would need to be less shot colored but that is absolutely the route UNI should go. UNI just released updates logo/colors/font due to our Nike deal we get "exclusive" shit. All they did was brighten the hell out of it.

New logo looks like the same neon yellow as the shoes that Nike pimped out just about every USA Olympian in at Rio.

I thought this was a pretty darn good game, 2012 Georgia Southern at NDSU. Jensen scores on a 4th and 5 with 3 minutes left.
