1R - Weber @ Chattanooga

This does seem to be a bit of a mismatch on paper. Chattanooga is probably one of the best teams playing this weekend, while Weber is the only team in the field with a negative scoring margin. It's also a super-long road trip for the Wildcats. This game could be close for a few reasons, however. Chattanooga has been a bit inconsistent of late, Weber's weak run-defense stats are misleading (they held Cal Poly under 200 yards a couple weeks ago), and 8 of Weber's 10 FCS games have been decided by just one score. The travel distance & lack of playoff experience ultimately make me think the Wildcats will lose, but their knack for making things close will prevent the blowout many are expecting.

Here's my assessment of the matchups & my pick for the game:

      • Quarterbacks -- Chattanooga

        Running Backs - Chattanooga

        Receivers/TEs - Weber St.

        Offensive Line - Chattanooga

        Defensive Line - Chattanooga

        Linebackers --- Chattanooga

        Secondary ---- Weber St.

        Kicking ------ Chattanooga

        Punting ------ Weber St.

        Return Teams - (push)

        Kickoffs ------ (push)

        • Weber St. 21-35 Chattanooga

Bennifield is ahead in efficiency and TD's and efficiency but Clark is quietly having a good season. He has similar stats, leads in passing yards, and is more experienced. That one might be a push.

Btw, thx for doing these...I enjoy reading them. :thumb:

It was close. The edge went to UTC because their backup QB has 300 rushing yards while Weber's backup basically hasn't even played.

Hopefully the Wildcats show up to this game ready to play. Last time we were in the postseason we were stomped on by William & Mary in 2009.

I am sure most of you are aware of the horrific bus "accident" that killed and injured children from Woodmore Elementary School in Chattanooga. This reminds us that there are so many things bigger than sports. Weber fans all thought it was pretty amazing that one of our opponents the SDSU alumni could raise funds for Sara Hill, Coach Hill's wife who is batting cancer. Players from both teams will be wearing a helmet decal in remembrance/support of the families impacted by this terrible tragedy. The Mocs, Weber State, Tennessee Titans are raising or giving money, paying tribute to victims of Woodmore crash raising funds, and although you are not Wildcat fans please unite with us to support the cause.

We were completely outmatched and became our own worst enemy several times.

It was great to make the playoffs again, regardless of the short stay and I hope Weber under Hill continues to build and grow into more of a playoff contending team.

Go Wildcats
