Re: Week 3 Score Thread
Last year McNeese totally dominated in the statistics but found a way to lose at the end. This time Nicholls State had an edge in the stats. 362 to 280 edge in total yards. It does look to me like McNeese got a lead then put the game on their defense. They only threw 19 passes.Mvemjsunpx wrote: McNeese beats Nicholls 20-10
I'm hopeful about their defense. They gave up 34 points to Houston Baptist but I know from reading Zem's Gems that they played a bunch of people both to hold key players out for Nicholls State and to give young players experience. He referenced playing a bunch of guys that are third on the depth chart for extended periods.
In their other two games they've only given up two offensive touchdowns and one of them, tonight's, was kind of meaningless as it happened with 6 seconds left in the game when the outcome was decided.
Now they have to play BYU. I guess I can hope BYU is living in the past for a while now.

Re: Week 3 Score Thread
I watched most of that one since Nicholls State at McNeese State was blacked out on ESPN3 in my area. That was an entertaining game. North Dakota converted twice on fourth down on its winning drive. Once to keep the drive alive and the TD was on a fourth down play.Mvemjsunpx wrote:Now a final.Mvemjsunpx wrote:UPSET ALERT!
NoDak leads Sam Houston 24-23, 3:27 left
North Dakota was the more physical team.
Sam Houston State going TO Nicholls State will be interesting next week.

Re: Week 3 Score Thread
In the "oh wow that's disappointing" area:
Northwestern State jumped out to a 28-0 lead on Lamar a little over midway through the second quarter. Lamar clawed and fought and scratched to get back in the game. They scored with 2:38 left in the game to bring the score to 49-48. Then they got the PAT blocked and lost by one point.

Apparently Emmanuel Butler was out, too, as well as 3 NAU defenders. That makes this result slightly less inexplicable.Mvemjsunpx wrote:Missouri State beats NAU 40-8
Cookus didn't play & Bridge-Gadd obviously wasn't the same QB as last week.
