Navy to Hire Kennesaw State DC

Navy intends to hire Kennesaw State defensive coordinator Brian Newberry, The Capital has learned. Newberry would replace Dale Pehrson, whose retirement was announced on Dec. 15.
Newberry just completed his fourth season as defensive coordinator and secondary coach at Kennesaw State, a fledgling Football Championship Subdivision school. Former Navy and Georgia Tech assistant Brian Bohannon is the head coach at Kennesaw State, which began its program in 2014 and has made the quarterfinals of the FCS playoffs the last two seasons.

This is why Navy is never any good. Kennesaw State didn’t even make it to the semifinals.

Navy's never going to be a BCS playoff team under the current format. They only care about one game each year, and they've lost it three times in a row. This guy has a loose connection to Navy through the Kennesaw HC and he's still fairly young with with an upward trajectory in his coaching assignments, so might be a good hire. Kennesaw's SoS can be questioned, but their defensive stats were very good.

I told the Canoe U members of my family a couple years ago that they were about to have a very long dry spell against Army. It will last as long as Moncken is there (which might be a long time)
