NDSU vs. JMU National Championship Game Thread

Post by Winterborn »

Going with the homer vote here and say NDSU by a TD. Fully expect this to be a close game and both teams are going to have to bring their best.

JMU TOTAL ATHLETIC BUDGET: 48.21 million. FOOTBALL: 10 million. FCS median about 3.75 million

NDSU: TOTAL ATHLETIC BUDGET 28.12 million. FOOTBALL: 5 million

I guess we will find out which program is the best in real terms

**********FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE**********
Gam Labs Publishing Dec 22, 2019
NDSU vs JMU. FCS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

NDSU BISON -2
Over/Under: 54
MYTHICAL SCORE: NDSU BISON 28-26
5Dimes: NDSU -1.5; O/U 55.5

It’s all about the running game. JMU allows 61 yds. The Bison average 275. If they get 100 it’s over. If the don’t it’s a toss-up going in.

NDSU offense plays on an 88 yd field. JMU 80

NDSU defense plays on a 160 yd field. JMU 125.

The ratio doesn’t favor JMU.

Can NDSU beat this cash burning team that outspends them by 2:1?

Oregon spends 119.9 million on athletics and just under 30 million on football. Their football spending is 6 times NDSU. JMU only spends twice as much as NDSU.

JMU will be good practice for the Ducks.

It’s round #1 in NDSUs 2 upcoming bouts in the Big Spenders Bowl!

JMU lost to West Virginia 20-13. JMUs defense was outstanding except for 2 passing TDs. WV only had 34 yds rushing. JMU was held to a below average offensive day with 2 FGs and a 1st QTR TD. TOP was pretty close and JMU had the edge in offensive statistics.

Stony Brook took JMU to OT. JMU rolled for 547 yds but SB had 436 of their own. They broke through on the ground with 118 yds and 3 TDS but passed for 318 yds and 2TDs. JMU was 5 of 6 in the red zone. SB 4-5.

You need a good defense and strong passing game, if you can keep up and slow them down a step you can beat JMU.

Well that is one way to beat us. :coffee:

I would still rather not go down in the history books with JMU as the only 2 football teams to be taken out by a meteorite.......

Can't help it. Momma raised me right. :D

I saw that. Keep going like that and the Bison will wind up on the endangered species list and smack talk will be considered a hate crime.......

And would you expect anything less than that from a herd animal? I mean you fit the profile of a pissed off chicken quite well. :thumb:

I actually closed my AGS window and am just going to let that stew for a day or two. Pod made a raised eyebrow emoji. I'm sure he has already put up the Bison signal in the sky. I'll read all the butthurt Bison replies sometime tomorrow.

I have some real football to watch the rest of today. E A G L E S, EAGLES.

Or some extra cash.

The NDSU idiots buy all the tickets a year in advance.

You won't miss much skipping Frisco. I wasn't impressed when we played there. Maybe they've actually built a city there by now instead of two bars across the street from the south end zone of the soccer field. I did like Dallas.

A lot of NDSU fans do buy tickets well in advance. It’s not a bad bet the Bison will be there and a lot of folks like Fisco, me included, but if a Delaware fan that hated Frisco because it wasn’t a back East clone bought tickets well in advance, now there’s an idiot so I understand bro.

Never forget the fake punt! Go for 2 Bison!

The only thing in question about this game is if the Bison win by 4 or 5 TDs.

Congrats on winning it all next year (2020) as well

2017 roughly each school:
5300 regular block (extra 1300 due to late finishing construction).
+ 150 terrace/suite
+ 350 band_________________
= 5.8k total

11.6k between the 2 schools
+6.5k public (majority bought by NDSU, some by JMU & ticket brokers).
+ 1k SRO_______________
= 19,090 announced attendance (construction limited).

JMU obviously had their 5.8k, a fraction of the public, & a good chunk of the SRO (goes on sale in the week or 2 before the game). I'm guessing was 12-13k NDSU/7-8k JMU, 60/40 split what a lot of people thought it was.

Before 2016-2017 construction Toyota stadium was listed as having a 20.5k capacity. Before & during construction press releases stated that post construction would be the same capacity. Stadium is still listed as 20.5k. So I'm assuming that is somwhat accurate. Last pre construction game, 2015 NDSU/JSU, had 21,836. That is the most ever.

2019 each school
Reserved seats (sections to be provided) 4,000 tickets
Reserved terrace (section to be provided) 109 tickets
Complimentary suite 20 tickets
Suite available for purchase 20 tickets
Total: 4,149 tickets
(Pg 48)
https://ncaaorg.s3.amazonaws.com/champi ... Manual.pdf

+350 for the band + cheerleaders.
4.5k+ total

So 9k between the 2 schools
+11.5k? public (majority bought by NDSU, some by JMU & ticket brokers in Aug)
+1k? SRO (assuming they do this again)
= 21.5k

Guessing it will be maybe 14k NDSU/8k JMU, closer 65/35 split. Losing the block of 1300 hurts JMU more, as that goes into the public block, which NDSU fans buy the majority of. The only category JMU will outnumber NDSU fans is people that want to go but can't get tickets.

Luckily got a block of 4 tickets through JMU.

Frisco would have completely changed since 2010. When you were there might have been around 120k people. Now pushing 200k. Heck, probably grown quite a bit from when I was there 2 years ago. Recently (may still be) the nations fastest growing city.

It will be interesting to see how this young Bison team, with a first year coach, does against this experienced JMU team. Should be an interesting game. Might just come down to turnovers. Looks like that is what happened with Stony Brook taking JMU to OT.

I'll go with the one that is 7-0 in title games.

Good job being exciting again FCS. Great level of play we have here.
