That drastically increases the chance of NDSU’s win streak of 37 extending another year/season, with a good shot at surpassing Oklahoma’s longest in overall Div I of 47 back in 1953-1957.

Well, I see they have ILSU and SDSU at home, so I guess the best chance at someone beating them is @ UNI, maybe the 1st game of the season (if OOC are cancelled)..

UNI loses a big game with Iowa. $650K payout gone. No Iowa - Iowa State game either. So the B10 cancels two in state bus trips. But Iowa can go to Columbus or Happy Valley. And Nebraska can go to Rutgers:dunce:

Not that we were going to have football this year anyway.
Damn, that is the highest I-AA payout I've ever seen. Is that the highest? I vaguely remember ASU getting $600k from LSU in 2008, the year after ASU beat Michigan, which would be $700+k inflation adjusted in today's dollars. JMU's (copied and pasted off the JMU board, with 600k at L'ville next year the highest):

TBD UNC $500,000
2025 Virginia Tech $TBD
2022 Louisville $600,000
2020 UNC $500,000
-------------------------
2019 West Virginia $550,000
2018 N.C. State $425,000
2017 East Carolina $300,000
2016 UNC $410,000
2015 SMU $425,000 + travel
2014 Maryland $325,000
2013 Akron $300,000
2012 West Virginia $350,000 + ticket incentives
2011 UNC $350,000
2010 VT $400,000-450,000
2009 Maryland $300,000?
2008 Duke $150,000?
2007 UNC $350,000
The other thing about that payout is there is little travel expense which makes it even more valuable to UNI. It's 90 miles from Cedar Falls to Iowa City. Easy bus trip.

Wait, so Iowa can get on a plane and fly hundreds (or over a thousand) miles for a 3-4 day trip to play another Big 10 team (and host other Big 10 teams doing the same), but can't play a fellow in state school at home off a 90 mile bus trip that could be accomplished without even the usual overnight? :suspicious:

If teams cancel their OOC payout games, and end up playing conference games, I imagine there's going to be lawsuits galore for breach of contract.

Yep. Can't play UNI or Iowa State but can fly across the country to play.

I say it's because Iowa knew they would get beat by UNI.

No surprise, the Patriot League followed their big brothers in the Ivy and have cancelled all fall sports. Will look into playing those sports in the spring if possible. I'd expect all of FCS football to continue down this path soon.

Look at the data, young people are at extremely low risks of dying from the Chinese Flu. There is no reason the games can't be played in empty stadiums.

If college sports are canceled, what happens to the student athletes? Do they retain a year of eligibility regardless of whether they've used a redshirt? What happens to incoming freshman? Some high school students might wait to graduate hoping to improve their chances at a scholarship but I would think most have graduated and plan to go to college. What about scholarship limits? Schools could have an extra class of students on hand with a limited number of scholarships.

Those are good questions, but Div I football wise, we're not there yet. I'm confident there will be a 2020 college football season (for at least P5, most of G5 & I-AA), but maybe not in 2020, and likely not a full season. IF the Fall gets the axed, it likely gets pushed to the last resort Winter/Spring shortened season option (Feb-May). If that were to then get axed, don't think would officially be until Dec ish.

I expect a lot of FCS conference to fold up shop for the year (as well as the other fall sports). No inside info, just a gut feel. I hope I'm wrong.
