3/27-3/28 score thread
Games Records (Conference only) or (Overall/conference)
Of 43 games scheduled, 7 showing postponed so far.
Sat, 3/27 35 games scheduled, 6 listed as postponed.
Games with major playoff implications:
-UD (2-0) @ URI (2-0) (Noon)
-UIW (3-0) @ Nichols St (3-1/2-1) (Noon). Southland looks like 2 playoff teams between SHSU, UIW, & Nichols. If Nichols loses, they're out of playoff contention.
-JMU (3-0/1-0) @ W&M (1-1) (1 PM). After 2 straight games postponed/cancelled due to the China Virus within JMU's team, JMU will likely be missing double digit players. My guess is 10-15. Question is how many starters and 2 deepers. This could be an upset here..
-SIU (4-2/3-2) @ Mo St (3-4/3-1) (3 PM) Mo State would be a long shot at an MVFC At Large at 7-4/7-1, with their 3 fall losses (2 to UCA and 1 to Oklahoma). Regardless, the loser of this is 100% out of the playoff picture.
*I'm assuming SDSU, SIU, UND, and Mo St, 4 of the 5 MVFC still in playoff contention, get a forefit win from ILSU forefitting their last 4 games..
-NAU (1-1) @ Weber St (2-0) (3 PM). Weber playing for the Big Sky auto and seed, NAU trying to keep from being eliminated from playoff contention.
Sun, 3/28 8 games scheduled, 1 listed as postponed (Prairie View @ Deion Sanders).
-Duquesne (3-0) @ Bryant (2-1). (noon) The Dukes atop the NEC, while Bryant is tied for 2nd.

Do you have a link to show Illinois State opting out will result in a forfeit win for the remaining teams on their schedule?BDKJMU wrote: ↑Fri Mar 26, 2021 8:48 am Games Records (Conference only) or (Overall/conference)

UNI up on WIU 7-0 as Justin Fomby throws his first college TD pass - a 75 yarder on the first play from scrimmage.

What a great way to start a career. I'll bet he's stoked, and well he should be!

It's his 2nd start - he found out the Friday before that he was starting against SW Mo St - but he didn't throw a TD pass in his first.SuperHornet wrote: ↑Sat Mar 27, 2021 9:39 amWhat a great way to start a career. I'll bet he's stoked, and well he should be!

Re: 3/27-3/28 score thread
UNI leads WIU 24-7. UNI kicked a FG with less than a minute to go in the first half to take a 10-7 lead. WIU then drove down field and the tying FG was blocked and returned for a TD as the half ended.

No. But in the middle of a season, if a team just folds up shop and says they’re not playing their last 4 games, how is that not forfeitting those games?Gil Dobie wrote: ↑Sat Mar 27, 2021 5:50 amDo you have a link to show Illinois State opting out will result in a forfeit win for the remaining teams on their schedule?BDKJMU wrote: ↑Fri Mar 26, 2021 8:48 am Games Records (Conference only) or (Overall/conference)

Where are you seeing YSU/UND cancelled? YSU is showing rescheduled vs UND on 4/17.

I see USD/WIU, postponed 2/19, has been rescheduled for 4/17, so they can't reschedule USD/NDSU that weekend.

There was a small group of Jacks fans to the right of us and they were all hugs and smiles before that pass. They stood there bewildered afterwards.
Hate to say it but Weber is not playing like a top 10 team right now. We did play our 2nd string qb as our starter was hurt but that 2nd string qb was highly touted. Maybe playing games in consecutive weeks will help.

Last play hail mary FTW is pretty rare. Below shows since 2000, at the Div I level only about 15 that are last second Hail Marys FTW. About 40 listed, but the majority are either end of 1st half, or only to send it to OT, or not with 0:00 on the clock.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of ... n_football
Only one from I-AA ever I see listed is 2008 UCD over N Colorado. Ironically that same year, then #1 JMU had one to beat VU, 1st thing I thought off after seeing Weber’s Hail Mary today.
JMU went on to losenin the semis that season to Montana.
Oh, and here’s an end of half one involving Weber St from last yr:

Before the official announcement came out, people were saying both games were cancelled. When the official news came out, the UND/YSU game was listed as postponed, and rescheduled.BDKJMU wrote: ↑Sat Mar 27, 2021 6:32 pmWhere are you seeing YSU/UND cancelled? I see USD/WIU, postponed 2/19, has been rescheduled for 4/17, so they can't reschedule USD/NDSU that weekend.

Of course if YSU didn't pull that one out of their arse in the 2016 semis @ EWU, EWU would have gotten to lose to JMU in Frisco. An assist from a chain gain wouldn't have been enough, like it was in 2010 vs UD..A number of games over the years have been decided by long, last-second touchdown throws but were not, strictly-speaking, Hail Mary passes. Below is a list of such games with explanations as to why it has been improper to describe them as Hail Marys. Usually, the touchdowns were more conventional pass plays with designated receivers and not of the unscripted, "jump ball" throws that are normally associated with Hail Mary-styled passes.

JMU would have had trouble stopping that offense.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

Not with 4 current or future AAs on that secondary, 2 of them future NFL starters.kalm wrote: ↑Sun Mar 28, 2021 11:07 amCorrect. Not a Hail Mary.BDKJMU wrote: ↑Sun Mar 28, 2021 10:46 am
I vaguely remember that. Wasn't it thrown to a specific receiver? From the above link:
Of course if YSU didn't pull that one out of their arse in the 2016 semis @ EWU, EWU would have gotten to lose to JMU in Frisco. An assist from a chain gain wouldn't have been enough, like it was in 2010 vs UD..
JMU would have had trouble stopping that offense.
Amd EWU would have struggled to stop that JMU offense- put up 80+ twice, and 65 in 3 qtrs vs SHSU in the Qtr finals..

JMU Football: 2022 & 2023 Sun Belt East Champions...But you have to go home now. We have to have peace…
..I know how you feel, but go home, and go home in peace.

JMU’s D was terrific but WSU and NDSU had trouble stopping that offense. Richmond put up 43 against JMU that year.
But we did struggle to stop anyone that year and I’m sure it would have been a shootout.
