The Augusta Sports Council (who?) has named NAU punter D.J. Arneson punter of the year, besting ten other semifinalists, including the Big Sky's own Cade Coffey (Idaho) and Daniel Whelan (UC Davis). Arneson placed 14 of 25 punts inside the twenty and averaged 43.96 yards a kick, matching quite well with his career average of 44.2 yards. That makes Arneson the career leader in FCS among active punters. He also uncorked the longest punt in Walkup Skydome history in a tilt against Idaho to close the spring season. Sounds like a good selection....
Congratulations, D.J.!

Arneson named FCS Punter of the Year
SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.
