89Hen wrote: Tue Oct 05, 2021 8:30 am Meh, it looks like the AGS Poll has slipped in credibility. A team like Montana State keeps moving up the poll without beating anyone. They very well may be a top 10 team by the end of the season, but they've really not done anything to prove that so far. Two Pioneer wins and two wins against Big Sky teams that are probably going to end up near the bottom of the conference.

IMO Missouri State's resume is much better than Montana State.
They looked good against Wyoming. That is what got them in to begin with. But yes, nothing impressive after. I have them #11, right behind Missouri St.

My take on my little slice of the world: Delaware is NOT a top 25 team. 11 is a complete joke.

With Rhode Island in the poll, Albany has lost to 3 top 20 teams and Syracuse, sitting at 0-4. Too bad, they do have a good QB, and some nice receivers.

Harvard is slightly ahead of Delaware in the computer rankings. It's a shame the Ivy's are too pussified to enter the playoffs.

Oh, please. The remnants of the decent (not great) squad that Delaware had in the spring still sleep-walked over them with three UD QB's appearing in the game. Albany is not a good team either.

The AGS poll is the best one I've seen, and there are four, maybe five (don't go beating off, Kalm) teams with a chance to win the chipper in that poll.

If SDSU stays healthy, they should cakewalk.

While I don't exactly like your choice of terminology there, 93, I wholeheartedly endorse your sentiment. I've never understood their rationale for sitting the playoffs out. It comes across as highly hypocritical given that just about every other Ivy-sponsored sport is allowed in the post-season. It's ALSO hypocritical, because Ivy League teams HAVE played in bowls. (Just looking at the Rose Bowl shows that before the Pac-10/Big Ten tie-in, the Ivy League was a frequent early participant. Brown lost to Wazzu 14-0 in 1916, Penn lost to Oregon 14-0 in 1915, and Harvard beat Oregon 7-6 in 1920. Actually, it seems that the Rose Bowl is the ONLY bowl that has featured Ivy League teams. There are plenty of other current FCS teams that have played in various bowls, however.)

Since 2018, I have been realistic. New coaching staff is not like the old coaching staff. I was pleasantly surprised how great they were in 2019. Lance and 2 other NFL draft picks helped cover up the coaching mistakes. This years team looks better than the 2019 version. Should finish in the top 4 in the conference, but who knows in the valley. The Bison have a lot of potential.

NDSU should not be on that list. Tyler Rohl (OC) needs to be canned (or have some creativity surgically implanted into his head) before we have a chance. His game calling against UND was atrocious.

I wish I was. My call at the beginning of the season among friends, is that at best we will be knocked out in the 2nd round. We are playing the same way as the spring season. We have good players, just no imagination from the coaches and are very 1D.

I think my top-5 are legit contenders at this point:

1. Sam Houston (if QB can stay/get healthy)
2. SDSU
3. James Madison
4. EWU
5. Davis (if QB can stay/get healthy)

My next 6… probably not:

6. NDSU (doesn't have the offense)
7. Northern Iowa (probably doesn't have the offense)
8. Southern Illinois (not quite good enough all around)
9. ETSU (they play down to their competition too much)
10. Montana (doesn't have the offense)
11. Montana St. (let's see how they do against real FCS competition)

‘At best’ you would be knocked out in the round of 16/2nd round? :suspicious:

Ok some people mistakenly think of the 2nd round as the quarterfinals (the old 2nd round I think through 2009), so I was wondering if you were referring to the quarterfinals, or the round of 16..

Good catch. I only started really paying attention after '09 and I meant the round of 16.
