SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

Them? They're confusing Montanta State and Montana. It doesn't reflect well on either school.

It's about as bad as what happens whenever UOP makes the NCAA Tournament. Pacific University (Forest Grove, OR) gets congratulatory calls. And when PacU makes the D-III Football (not this year, as they were 6-3, 5-2 Northwest) playoffs or Basketball tournament (not in 2021, either as the Boxers men were a COVID-shortened 4-8, 3-5 Northwest, and the women were 5-4, 4-2 Northwest, though doing much better at 7-3, 2-0 Northwest this year), UOP gets congratulatory calls, because people can't be bothered to see the difference in name structure (University of the Pacific vs. Pacific University), location (Stockton, CA vs. Forest Grove, OR), or Division (I-AAA for UOP since the Unmentionable in 1995, or D-III for PacU).

It doesn't happen both ways. We never get confused on ESPN or on other graphics for them, but this is at least the 4th or 5th time this has happened in the last few years for them.

Sure if it makes you feel better to look at it that way. I look at it that every time it happens they're confusing Montana with Montana State. That's a two-way street and reflects poorly on the national recognition of both schools.uofmman1122 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 28, 2021 6:54 pmIt doesn't happen both ways. Happens both ways in ND. We were on a regional hockey poster at one time.UNI88 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 28, 2021 7:27 pmSure if it makes you feel better to look at it that way. It does make me feel better and is very funny because "Montana State is often mistaken for Montana in the national media" is a true statement.UNI88 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 28, 2021 7:27 pmSure if it makes you feel better to look at it that way. "Montana is often mistaken for Montana State in the national media" is not.
Nice try, though.

montana.edu goes to MSU. One has to know that it's umt.edu that goes to Montana. That might have something to do with it.uofmman1122 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 28, 2021 10:00 pmIt does make me feel better and is very funny because "Montana State is often mistaken for Montana in the national media" is a true statement.

When Montana State is being mistaken for Montana, Montana is also being mistaken for Montana State. I'm sorry if the logic is beyond you.uofmman1122 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 28, 2021 10:00 pmIt does make me feel better and is very funny because "Montana State is often mistaken for Montana in the national media" is a true statement.

Shouldn‘t this be posted to the Championship game thread?
..peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard..
JMU Football: 2022 & 2023 Sun Belt East Champions...But you have to go home now. We have to have peace…
..I know how you feel, but go home, and go home in peace.

You can believe whatever you want, but like I said, they never get it wrong when we're playing.UNI88 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 30, 2021 10:37 amWhen Montana State is being mistaken for Montana, Montana is also being mistaken for Montana State.
