Versus Sports preseason conference rankings for the 2022 season
1. Missouri Valley (ranked above 1 FBS conference)
2. Big Sky
3. Asun
4. SoCon
5. CAA
6. WAC
7. Ivy League (ranked below 2 D2)
8. Southland (ranked below 2 D2)
9. Ohio valley (ranked below 2 D2)
10. Big south (ranked below 2 D2)
11. SWAC (ranked below 2 D2)
12. Pioneer (ranked below 6 D2)
13. MEAC (ranked below 7 D2)
14. Patriot (ranked below 7 D2)
15. NEC (ranked behind 8 D2 )

I don't see why anyone would rank the Pioneer above any other conference right now. I mean, they went 1-17 in FCS non-conference games last year.

Fact is, lots of current FCS programs should be in Division 2, and this proves it. 15 FCS conferences is way too many, it's kinda like an FBS waste bucket. There should be checks and balances in place for FCS and G5 at least. Lots of east coast programs moving up just for the heck of it, and without ensuring their program is ready to compete for G5 conference titles has also weakened the FCS. An entire G5 conference was created for FCS teams to move up to, no real conference invite necessary. I don’t like it.
