FCS-FBS Games, Weeks 0-1

Post by SuperHornet »

Not sure why Yahoo! didn't separate out Week 0, but here are my thoughts on the likelihood of a scalp for these games. Even for an optimist like me, not that many I'd call a done deal....

Duquesne at FL State: No
FL A&M at North Carolina: No
Long Island/C.W. Post at Toledo: No
SC State at C. Florida: Possible
Bryant at FL International: Possible
VMI at Wake Forest: No
E. Illinois at N. Illinois: Yes
AL A&M at AL-Birmingham: Possible
NAU at AZ State: No
Portland State at San Jose State: Possible
Cal Poly at Fresno State: No
William & Mary at NC-Charlotte: Possible
TN Tech at Kansas: No
SD State at Iowa: Possible
Delaware at Navy: Possible (Ouch!)
C. CT State at UCONN: Possible
Richmond at Virginia: Possible
SEMO at IA State: Possible
N. Iowa at Air Force: No
Maine at New Mexico: Yes
Bethune-Cookman at Miami (FL): Possible
North Dakota at Nebraska: No
Norfolk State at Marshall: No
UC Davis at Cal: No
South Dakota at KS State: Possible
IL State at Wisconsin: No
SELA at Louisiana: Yes
Elon at Vanderbilt: No
Mercer at Auburn: No
Albany at Baylor: No
Colgate at Stanford: No
Murray State at TX Tech: No
Idaho at WA State: No (Much of the rest of the Big Sky, I'd call this at least a possible, and for Sac, EWU, and UMT, I'd call it a done deal. But not for the Idaho schools at all....)

Why don't you think NAU over ASU is possible?

I don't see the SC State or Bethune Cookman's at all. I don't think they're necessarily good teams at this level. UCF is in year 2 of the Gus Malzhan era and looks on the way up, and Miami is picked by most to win the ACC Coastal this year.

I'd give an early-season NAU a shot over AZ, but not Danny White University with Herm Edwards in charge. That's enough reason right there. AZ doesn't have that....

If there's ever going to be a year that NAU can beat ASU, it should be this year. ASU coaching staff is in disarray with multiple coaches leaving or being investigated. SunDevils football lost their top QB, 2 or 3 running backs, top ranked and 3rd ranked receivers and an all conference freshman linebacker. They're a hot mess.

I'm not saying NAU has a guaranteed win or anything but I think the surrounding factors favor the Jacks more than past excursions to Tempe.

Go Jacks!
