FCS Week 1 Games
Has anyone heard of Lincoln (CA) of Oakland? Their website says they're playing schools in every NCAA division and NAIA, but they're not listed anywhere. Are we actually playing completely independent teams? They play FCS this week, and Portland State later on. Wow....

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

When Portland State's game was set up with the Lincoln Oaklanders (that is their name), it was said that they are an NAIA independent.

Sounds good, JAL. It would be nice if either the NAIA website would recognize them or their own website would acknowledge NAIA (or at least the NCCAA, which many NAIA schools concurrently join).

Scalp Alert!
We ALMOST got one! Akron got lucky and beat Bryant 30-23 in overtime!
And there's another one cooking: Bryant leads FL International 16-13 4Q. It was 16-6 just a minute or so ago. About 13 min left.

FIU now at the Bryant 42 with 13 seconds (Bryant just called a TO)
13-yard pass to the 29, :09 left…

They're going to let FIU off the hook. FIU has the ball at the Bryant 12 with 13 sec left. Ugh!

Re: FCS Week 1 Games
I don't get this, Venus. Maybe you can explain. They're giving FIU the chance to respond to Bryant's touchdown, as has been the case pretty much ever since the stupid college overtime came into existence, but St. Francis wasn't accorded the same treatment. As soon as Akron got their OT touchdown, the zebras declared the game over. At least, that's what the Game Tracker seemed to indicate; there was no follow-on series for St. Francis.
What gives?

Re: FCS Week 1 Games
The play-by-play on STATS had (after Akron's score) St. Francis converting a 4th. & 10, then throwing a pick two plays later.SuperHornet wrote: ↑Thu Sep 01, 2022 7:53 pm I don't get this, Venus.
