I had no idea. Why would you leave when you just started in the national title game? Did Montana get some unbelievable stud at QB that threatened his job or something?

McDowell entered the portal almost immediately after the title game. He initially committed to Temple, but then he backed out within the last month. As of yesterday, it sounded like he was going to Prairie View.

I don't know if some agent gave him delusions of grandeur or what. At the time he entered the portal in January, the eGriz speculation consensus (for whatever that's worth) was that the coaches told him he wasn't likely to start next season.
